Copying is flattery, so all respect to Tam!
I'm just about to enjoy a bottle of this with Mrs. CD555 ...
.. while we listen to Portishead – Third.
So, what are you drinking right now?

Just had a few glasses of Hendrick's gin, on ice, with cucumber. Feeling rather mellow

Last night, needs at least 4 hours to breathe before drinking it seems. Was quite palatable by the end of the evening. Bit disappointed really.

This letting wine breath is something the posh wineoS came up with years ago.
Buy the time its gone into a nice big wine glass and sat there for a min its breathed enough.
Decant is a different matter altogether.

I defer to your superior knowledge - but in our experience yesterday evening, the decanted wine changed character over the course of the evening. Now it may have been the sediment settling because it wasn't decanted properly, psychosomatic or it could be that it needed to "breathe." Bizarrely, we have similar experience with some older wines based around the nebbiolo grape. This latter was also subject to a blind tasting as we could not quite understand the chemistry. Given the presence of two recognised professors (chemistry and biochemistry) in the group, I am still at a loss to explain the change (for the better imho).
Next time I'll just drink it straight from the bottle wrapped in brown paper - always tastes good like that

Just coming to the end of a Longrow CV. A Laphroaig Triple Wood turned up in the post today, so I may have a tilt at that before the week is out.

An indulgence I allow myself when I get home from work in December (it's Christmas). If I allowed myself it at other times of year I would end up an alcoholic in no time!
Lack of taste or what?????

Christmas offers a nice excuse for a slight excess.
Not fiery as you would expect - but oh so little is needed.

Bit like leaving your system on 24/7 making a difference to its performance. Load of old b*llox really...
