Opening a new window in Microsoft Internet Explorer

My grandson (15 months)helpfully pressed about half a dozen random keys simultaneously on my laptop whilst I was viewing the Forum.

Since then, and despite various cold reboots etc, whenever I click on "Forum", the Forum opens as a thin 1" stip across the top of the screen, rather than as a full window. This also happens on one or two other sites as well. The "Find a Retailer" window opens up as a full window in the usual way and once in the Forum, the HiFi/Padded Cell etc open as normal, as do the various individual topics.

Has anybody got any idea how I can rectify this "problem" so that all windows open up as full windows? Its pretty frustrating clicking "Forum" and thinking nothing has happened, only to find that the new window has actually opened up as a title strip which I hadn't noticed!!

Cheers

Don ,I think if you just drag the corner to enlarge the window that should fix it !

Open the page, enlarge it as in the previous post, hold ctrl key and close the window. This should fix the page size. Not sure if this is valid for vista

Hi Don

When you say that it opens as a 1" strip, do you mean that the window is normal size but the content is only 1" high? If so then this is normally a zoom setting problem. It will have been caused by holding Ctrl and pressing - a lot. So just hold Ctrl and press + a lot or chosse View and then Zoom 100%.

Hopefully

The window opens full width (more or less), in its "correct" position across the top of the screen, but only about 1" high with the top 1" of content showing, ie the title strip. Because this more or less overlies the title strip of the underlying window, I don't always notice the new window. I prefer new windows to open either full size, or as a quarter-size pane top-left which is noticable and can then be enlarged.

If I click the "maximise" screen button in the new window, after a long pause (say 30") the 1" strip of window opens to full size.

Nigel, I will try your suggestion when I get home tonight. many thanks
