Go to your local hi fi dealer and ask for a 2 phono to din interconnect.
If they don't have one long enough, I suggest you get them to order you one.
I had a 5 metre interconnect made up for me by Chord Co.

Keono, if like me you arn't to worried about the quality of output from the TV (mine is not very good anyhow) then places like maplins do the same leads for a fiver.
If your TV has only Scart output then you will require a scart to two phonos you then get an adaptor to 5 pin din. If you are lucky you may find scart to din, but I never have.

I think the standard stuff is around 30 quid a metre.

Chord Chrysalis is about £30 for 1 metre, but only about £8 for each extra metre, therefore £62 approx for 5m. Go to null and e-mail "The Cable Doctor" your question.
Maplin (www.maplin.co.uk) do cheap leads at between £5 to £10
For either of the above, you'll need to establish what the output is on your TV. Alternatively, if you've got a VCR, you can connect from that (they've mostly all got phono sockets, and anything recent will have SCART)
There's always money somewhere for the next upgrade...

You could also try XR23A Quad screened cable from Maplin @ £0.69 / m.
It's similar in look to Chord Chrysalis, is cheap and sounds good.
I bought 30m in a bin-end recently at a silly price, and it works a treat for DIY cables. As it has 4 cores one can even make leads for tape decks etc too.
It's also small enough to fit into 3.5mm jack plugs for minidisc interconnects.
Terminating to phono's is more fun, you'll need some heatshrink to split each core, like the Chord co. cables and it's fun to work with, having such fine cores.
Good soldering test though

earth??
Don't you have to be a bit careful with earths if you're connecting to a TV? If the TV -ve is earthed then you might get an earth loop if your CD or record player is also earthed. Maybe one of the boffins can help? Presumably if neither your TV or video (or DVD or sat box or cable box) have an earth connection in the mains plug you're OK.

Given the questionable quality of most TV sound-strips, I doubt the investment in high quality cable would pay off. I've just used standard cheapo Maplin type Scart to phono leads, chopped off the phonos and soldered on a din. Much neater than two cables and it works fine. Never experienced any problem with earth-loop induced hum either!
