Anyone know anything new about the VS1? It was supposed to be launched in the new year (2002 that is), but nothing yet. Why the delay?

The possibilties for adding various add ons to the switcher meant a re-think to make the vs1 more flexible. We are working on it, more news soon.

Jonathan: I've heard rumors that VS1 is an Xmas release. No confirmation, so pls don't take this as gospel especially considering Paul's remarks above!
Cliff: Have not done an A/B test yet between full Naim AV (AV2, NAP150, NAP 180) and Arcam AV8 & P7. I did find a useful resource which gives the edge to the AV8 vs. AV2. I posted a thread last wk about the three-way test in "Hi-Fi News" on these two processors and the Tag AV30R:

Don't get me wrong, I quite like the telly. I even subscribe to Film Four. But, I've never been able to make the connection between this and listening to music on the Hi-Fi. I still believe that everything that comes out of an AV processor sounds shite.

At this stage, we all only have the one area to post and if you look at previous threads this has worked out more or less. I've previously suggested that Admin should establish an AV Corner. I'd welcome other members supporting this request.

I am sure you are not alone. There are probably many members here who share this view. Still, if you have not had a chance, its worth going to your local dealer to demo some of the new processors.
But it's not for everyone, is it?

Id also support an AV corner.
As for those who think av is "shite", try connecting your telly to your hifi and see what it sounds like. For me it was a quantum difference to the sound coming out of the TV speakers.
Cheers

I have a friend who has an AV2 with active DBLs, and active SBLs in the rear. The sound is incredible. Like some of you I thought the whole home theater thing was stupid until I heard it Naim style. The sound is fast...the bass is downright scarry. Its adds a whole dimention to movie watching that I did not think existed. Before you knock it, go experience it. Its pretty damn cool.
