Hi All,
A question away from Naim equipment for the moment!
I need to put together a system for use in a promotional bus and wouid greatly appreciate some advice!
Requirements are:CD player, Mini disk
player, amplifier and two sets of speakers for the vehicle
A maximum budget of between £400 and £500 should be allocated to cover the cost of purchasing the hardware.
The system will possess a split audio feed in order to ensure that the sound levels both inside and outside the vehicle can be at alternate levels depending upon surroundings and activity within the vehicle.
A friend suggested seeking some JBLs speakers for the job but did not know models.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
And just for you Vuk,
Martin Munt
(First name rhymes with Farting couldn't think of anything for the Sir name!

A difficult question to answer, without having more specific details. Whats the power supply voltage? 230v mains or 12/24v inverted back to 230v using modified sinewave. If the latter is the case, use a surge/spike protector!!!
As for JBLs, I could reccomend Cerwin vega, Bose, Mission et al who all specialise in the quantity before quality equation.
P.S. Add Linn Keosas to the list...Not the most polished performer to leave Taiwan (SORRY! Just a dig at "modern Linn")

The answer:
12/24v supply inverted to 240v using modified sinewave,
outdoor and indoor use - therefore independent in terms of volume control
surge/spike protector - yes
Which has left me even more clueless than I usually am!

You need to find out the maximum continuous wattage that the inverter can supply, and ensure your power amps don't go over this figure.
For cheap but powerful amps try Pioneer A400, Linn Intek, Kenwood KA3020SE or one of the bigger NADs. NAP250 users will sneer as to their sound quality but i doubt that is of paramount importance.
Minidisc....Errrr no experience. a Sony should do okay
Speakers...With so many models available in the likes of Loot etc it's probably a case of what comes up.

Cheers Dave,
I think I get what your saying (I've got a lot to learn on the technical side!)
I shall have a wander through the old Richer S etc and see whats about.
Thanks for the help
