Just recently picked up two of her old LPs.
I like her stuff. ( somehow she escaped from the '70s diva craze )

Show Some EMotion is one of top 3 "desert island" recordings.

In 1980 I bought the newly released Me Myself I LP. It's still my favourite Joan Armatrading album. I like most of her stuff but I'm not keen on a recent release, 'Into The Blues'.

I picked up Me Myself I after hearing one song on the radio. It is great, went back an album and then The Key came out and I saw her in concert in San Diego. Wonderful rocker but her ballads are the best. a year ago I came across MMI and haven't listened to it much. But I will....

I actually enjoyed this one. Your post prompted me to find it and play it again for the first time in a long while and I still like it!

Now I too am going to have to dig out a few of her albums. She has not had a play for far too long. Thanks for the reminder.

I first heard her around '80 or '81 she was fun but also profound in the reving up of the 2nd British invasion of 80s music. I sent my sister in Colorado a tape mix of the 3 albums I had. She wrote back and asked "who is that woman?". I told her. I didn't know she was going thru marital woes and that got her to kick her no good husband out. Just hearing Joan's ballads and longing for true love. It was important a few years later for me.

These are my two faves. Whatever's for us was Joan's first album I believe, a collaboration with Pam Nestor.
The self titled album posted by Kuma was a popular demo in its day.
Saw her at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney in 1983, the same week I bought my Linn Saras. What a week!

I've heard her stuff used for demos in good hi fi shops. Fun stuff, great recordings, good pressings.
