nac 12 usable or not

Posted by: Andreas Nystroem on 25 June 2001

In my ongoing pursuit of musical pleasure I have managed to get hold of a nap160 that I plan on using with my nait2. With the 160 I also got a nac12 thrown in basically for free. Now I was wondering is the nac12 a worse or better preamp then my nait2? I will of course get an answer when the things arrive later this week but i'm just curious if anyone has compared them.

I used a bolt case 12 and 160 for years with no problems whatsoever - it's a great preamp and, to be honest, I only really significantly bettered it when I got a 72 (had a 42, 32.5 and 62 inbetween).

Check it out. Try and get a SNAPS and collect the 'vintage' set!

As I've got a spare old NAP110 (red LED) I was thinking about getting a NAC12 to go with it -mainly just to see what the preamp was like.

I've also got a SNAPS so I think I'll see if I can find a cheap NAC12 used now and give it a go.

It seems like the nac12 isn't such a bad preamp after all, it will be really interesting to compare it to my nait2. smile
