Hiface to a Naim Dac

Posted by: Booglex on 22 April 2010

My Naim Dac is 4 meters away from my Mac.

Is it better to run a 2 meter USB cable from my Hiface and then run a 2 meter BNC to BNC cable?

Or a longer USB cable with a Naim DC1?

Or a 4 meter BNC to BNC cable and if so who makes a good quality cable at that lenght?

Or invest in a chord indigo plus digital RCA or BNC at 2 meters with a 2 meter USB to the Hiface?

Does anyone know?

There has been some debate on this elsewhere. Nobody really knows. I suspect that it might not matter much.

Putting the Hiface at your computer and running 4m SPDIF gives the Hiface the best power supply. If you hack your Hiface to take an external supply then putting it at the DAC might be better, but very short SPDIF runs might be problematic.

Only one way to find out. Try it all.

(Mods, this thread is obviously in the wrong room)
