Steely Dan - Birmingham 5 July

Went there, saw them, got the t-shirt.
But seriously it was worth every penny (plus some more) and the other venues are in for a great night. I hesitate to put down a set-list as it will spoil the anticipation but it was well thought out and contained one or two surprises - songs which B & F have previously said they were glad not to ever have to play live again. As you would expect, every aspect was so polished and professional and they genuinely appeared to be enjoying performing.
Superb band (total of 12 on stage), timeless songs, memorable night for the NIA.
I hope part of the tour is recorded and/or DVD'd somewhere in the UK.
Have a sunny weekend
Ron

Hello Diccus,
I think it was about 22.30
Contrary to what I expected (ie. no support with the Dan on stage at 19.30) there was a warm-up act who did about 35 minutes. Not bad as far as supports go but if I were Major-Tom I would stay in the free bar.
I guess SD were on stage for about 90 minutes plus 2 encores.
regards
Ron

SD were not on stage at 19.30
There was a support act who were not prompt at 19.30 and an interval while the stage was arranged.

Fantastic evening! I'd not seen them before and I am so pleased I have now. Like Ron, I'll not spoil it for others by mentioninng track names but it was a superb set and apparently quite different to the American set list.
The support band featured a Hammond, drums and guitar and apart from sometimes sounding a bit like the backing band for "Sale of the Century" or a Bingo Hall, they were very good. The drummer was excellent but appeared to be playing a toy kit!
