Nait 3 plus SBL's = Jihad or Jem

Posted by: Potiriadis on 03 September 2003

I have been castigated four times in the past 24 hours since my posting on help with a tweeter on an SBL. Apparently it is against some law of nature to use a NAIT 3 with a pair of decent speakers.

So far I have not been able to work out if it is snobbery or reality. I am currently listening to them minus tweeteers (they are in for TLC with NAIM) and my little NAIT 3 is having no problems driving them, in fact the ability to isolate the mid-range in this way is very interesting as the transparency of the speaker is fully revealed.

Can someone actualy coment on any scientific, non bigotted reason why they feel that SBL's shouldn't be used with a NAIT, wich lets face it is a pretty shit hot intergrated amp in any normal system.

By the way top marks for NAIM's customer support who have held myu hand through the trauma of finding that my SBL's needed medical attention.

Potiriadis.

I think people might be saying that a nait will not drive them to their full potential.

I am in perhaps a resonable position in as much as I used my SBLs with a 92/90 which is muchly a nait three.

It was as you say fine. In a small room it sounded great.

The massive increase in function when I moved to a 102 and then a 180 cannot be underestimated.

At the very least a move to a poweramp and a power supply will be great.

In the mean time don't listen to this lot, only I know whats what

Wow

A positive respoonse from the forum, not necessarily affirmation, but it seems that not everyone is from the snob brigade.

Unfortunateley my upgrade path is massiveley restricted due to my loving wife, who for my own good has memorised every component I own, and tracks changes with the unnerring aim of an excocet missile. My money may well be mine, but what it is used for is subject to descision by comitee. I have promised not to purchase any more boxes, although I did mannage to slip in a headline, napsc and flatcap in at the last minute.

If only I could repackage a 102/180 into the boxes of my NAIT and Flatcap, but custom engineering seems to be a little excessive, on the other hand slipping a CD 3.5 into my Marrnatz CD Case, now that might be worth looking into!
