So what are you enjoying at Glastonbury?

Missed last nights music but watched this evening, thought that Editors were canny, with the singer reminiscent of Keneth Williams, Daffy duck and norman Wisdom (and looked like a young Sid James). Still doing great anthemic Joy Division Music for the current generation of Killers lovers.
Thought Patrick Wolfe was talented and will check out his work.
Enjoyed Klaxxons cover of 'Not over yet', had me bouncing on the sofa. Nice lads who dress like a scruffy Duran Duran.
Thought that Maximo Park were rather good, and to think they played our local record shop a couple of years ago and I didn't bother stopping to watch coz I thought they were a bunch of noisy 'goths' - doh
For me this eveings highlight was without doubt Pigeon Detectives, hilarious, passionate, energetic and don't take themselves too seriously - bloody great. ROTF you might like them. 'Take her back' is a storming crowd pleaser Listen here
Any thoughts folks

Trying hard - not enjoyed much so far
. Simple studio song from Catherine Feeny was good - prompted me to take a punt on her new album. I could see why folk liked the Arctic Monkeys but they didn't light my fire. Bjork was different as always, but mostly weird.
Ian - misery guts.

I was hoping to see some coverage of Soil & 'Pimp' Sessions tonight, but I was out of luck.
Hopefully the BBC will decide to cover Fat Freddy’s Drop or Koop tomorrow.
I wish the BBC interactive service would just stream coverage from each stage, that way I could just watch and listen to the stuff on the Jazz World stage.

Just watched some Glastonbury on BBC4 - absolutely fantastic - America's greatest ever (male) singer songwriter (IMHO, of course) was on performing many of his great songs - the guy is so good that I could have constructed a set with an entirely different collection of his songs and it would still have been a superb repertoire - the man in question is the great John Fogerty. Every song was a gem and the performance was immense - he's 62 and still going strong. His recent albums are every bit as good as his Creedence Clearwater Revival masterpieces.
John's set was followed by Iggy & the Stooges - which I tolerated for 5 minutes before switching off - it was a case of after the Lord Mayor's show and I think a lot better artists than Iggy Pop would have failed to excite after the John Fogerty set. (Sorry Iggy fan - just my opinion).
John Fogerty's guitar playing was as good as ever (and that's good - want to hear the best rock guitarist in the world then look/listen no further JCF is as good as I've heard); his singing just as powerful. A stunning Born on the Bayou and a rendition of I Heard It Through The Grepevine that I even I liked. The definitive Midnight Special was there too and Up Around The Bend and Fortunate Son, Down On The Corner, Who'll Stop The Rain, Bad Moon Rising, Rocking All Over The World and Lodi.
He has a new album out in the Autumn - I for one can't wait to get hold it. His last two albums Blue Moon Swamp and Deja Vu All Over Again were first class.

Hi Diccus
That song sounds great - yet another group to investigate further. There's a lot of great music around at the moment - well the year ends with a 7 so perhaps it's to be expected.

It's odd the way that you get clusters of excellent musical output during certain vintages. As well as years ending in 7, I also find that years ending in 9 (e.g. 1969 or 1989) and 4 (e.g. 1974 or 1994) tend to coincide with great musical output.
In particular I have found that 1974 was an incredible year for music. A great number of my favourite albums were released that year (and to think I was only a newborn at the time).

Loved Arcade Fire, and quite liked Hot Chips. Unfortunately missed John Fogerty and Paul Weller. Iggy I did not enjoy along with small amounts of Lily Allen Bjork and for me the hugely talent(less)Amy Winelake they all made made me change channels or bands.

Looking up with John Fogarty and Rodrigo y Gabriela both excellent...

Rodrigo Y Gabriela has been the highlight for me so far. They are so good that I fear that I will never pick up a guitar again.
Simply sublime!

Catherine Feeney is an excellent song writer and one half of 'Never the Bride' diverse fans include Roger Daltry and Shirley Bassey!

Not getting...
half drowned, trenchfoot, the 'runny-arse' blues, my sleeping bag nicked, the smell, the obnoxious tw*ts who feel they are so righteous for being oh so alternative and the f*cking Healing tent.

I enjoyed John Fogerty's set, particularly so as I haven't heard the Creedence Clearwater Revival material in years.
Arcade Fire and the Killers were groups I have not taken much notice of to date, but from their performances I may buy some of their albums. The only concern is I am not sure how the performance on stage will translate into the performance on CD. I will only find out by trying I guess.

Inspired by last night's performance, I've just listened to Hot Fuses by The Killers which I have on "blue" vinyl. Great album, but the vinyl is not as good as the CD, the pressing quality is poor, probably due to being coloured vinyl.

Just watched Seth Lakeman and Tinariwen both excellent. Quite liked See Cape,Get Cape Fly also.
Tried Bjork again but it just sounds like discordant noise to me.

Arcade Fire, Arcade Fire, Arcade Fire, Arcade Fire and Arcade Fire; the only band worth even any listening...and their albums are very nearly as good as their live peformance.
Worst point; having to wait for Rufus Wainwright to finish before BBC showed Arcade Fire. Closely followed by most of the BBC presenters.
And don't even mention that talentless Amy whining-all-the-time. I haven't seen any one look and sound so completely uninterested in their performance.

I enjoyed Lily Allen's stratergy of not losing her way back to her tent. By wearing it.

Fender, MichaelC - if you enjoyed the brilliant John Fogerty then I can thoroughly recommend his DVD
Also try to give Blue Swamp Moon a listen - it proves he can still write great songs.
