So what are you enjoying at Glastonbury?
Posted by: Diccus62 on 23 June 2007
Missed last nights music but watched this evening, thought that Editors were canny, with the singer reminiscent of Keneth Williams, Daffy duck and norman Wisdom (and looked like a young Sid James). Still doing great anthemic Joy Division Music for the current generation of Killers lovers.
Thought Patrick Wolfe was talented and will check out his work.
Enjoyed Klaxxons cover of 'Not over yet', had me bouncing on the sofa. Nice lads who dress like a scruffy Duran Duran.
Thought that Maximo Park were rather good, and to think they played our local record shop a couple of years ago and I didn't bother stopping to watch coz I thought they were a bunch of noisy 'goths' - doh
For me this eveings highlight was without doubt Pigeon Detectives, hilarious, passionate, energetic and don't take themselves too seriously - bloody great. ROTF you might like them. 'Take her back' is a storming crowd pleaser Listen here
Any thoughts folks

Not a bad back catalogue they have to choose from
Bloody awful rain by the looks of it though.

...The WHO are absolutely NAILING "My Generation" as we speak ....the neighbours are out so it's BLASTING TIME!

Wow this is getting silly - what a set -'Won't get fooled again' up next - fantastic

Cracking set being played by The Who.
And thanks ROTF for the Fogerty tip. Just ordering it now.

Can't wait until Tuesday night at Wembley.

.....Ok so I'm 52 yrs old and like most of my contemporaries I'd already assumed that The Who were always going to "kill" Glastonbury and show the young un's how it's done ....cue the usual dad like comments ...."in my day" "proper music this" etc. etc. ....except it's true isn't it?
..However promising the "Pigeons" sounded or rousing the Kaiser Chiefs were .......they are all rather "indie" aren't they? ....I'm watching the Chemical Bros right now (and I've always quite liked them as far as dance bands go) But post The WHO it just sounds so soulless and uninvolving
....Here we are 50+ years into rock n' roll's history and it's STILL the bands from 30/40+ years ago who REALLY hit the spot ...I reckon only Radiohead of bands from the last 10/15 years will stand the test of time which if you think about it is rather worrying ......
Or is just me?

The Who set looked real good. But i was really impressed by the Chemical Brothers.....and for all that I didn't like his singles and had written him off I thought Mikas was excellent too.

What am I enjoying....? Not being there, to be honest. Between the mud, the shite sound system, the whole middle-aged hippy/dippy bollocks and Shirley bassey, frankly, I'm glad I went to Hyde Park instead.

I probably only saw about two hours of it, but for me, seeing Rodrigo y Gabriela and the crowd performing Wish You Were Here was amazing. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it.
I wish I was there!

I'd love to see Rodrigo y Gabriela too. But I missed the whole tv coverage as our tv and hifi had to be unplugged all weekend. I am too old and too soft to think that spending a weekend in a tent in predominently atrocious weather would be fun. If the words "en suite" are not included in the description I usually prefer the comforts of home!

Didn't see a huge amount but I loved the Stooges set and John Fogerty.

Chris there is a view again facility on BBC/Glastonbury website I think.
Worth a search anyway.
"en suite" mud was included, free of charge too.
I haven't seen my "mud monster" yet. It would seem there are problems getting 177,000 people out of a bloody great muddy field.
I loved the comment that Mr Eavis was pleased with the performance of the new drains he had installed. Think what it would have been like without them.
Did Hyde Park churn up?

Thanks for that Howard. I'll take a look later.
I also saw Eavis on the news saying that the reduced output PA was a success as only 2 of his neighbours had lodged complaints, compared to the usual 11 or 12!
Hyde Park was still pretty firm, although the asphalt paths became mini-rivers! Mind you, it doesn't serve as agricultural land the rest of the year! What it was like by the end of yesterday, when Aerosmith headlined, is an interesting question. My main memory is of the hail and of the sea of abandoned Tuborg paper cups as far as the eye could see! I suspect that more than a few of the attendees probably came to on Sunday morning wondering why their clothes were so damned wet! They were feeling no pai at the gig!
Your "mud monster" is still young enough to think it was fun I suspect! Hope he had a good time.

I'm a year older than you. Of what I saw, I liked Kaiser Chiefs, The View, Go! Team and, yes, The Who. Of the newer ones, I'd say only Go! Team were actually doing something very new or different.

Chris and everybody else too BBC have most of the acts except the main one I wanted to see Arcade Fire. R & G were very good also Seth Lakeman if you'r slightly folky.
Posted on: 26 June 2007 by Chris Kelly
Seth Lakeman had a busy weekend! Was billed to appear on one of the side stages at Hyde park on Saturday, though we didn't find our way there, sadly.

Still catching up on my recorded highlights..................thought Rufus and Martha were great covering Jeff Buckley covering Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah even if they hadn't practised it much.
