Fire in the hole: Sara Isaksson & Rebecka Törnqvist sing Steely Dan

Posted by: Gunnar Jansson on 21 October 2006

I thought I share this one with you.

Released this week in Sweden, not any idea if gets abroad or not. (Probably not getting any press outside Sweden) On their own Moule recordings.

Fire In The Hole Sara Isaksson and Rebecka Törnqvist sing Steely Dan.

samples:

Article (sorry bout it´s beeing in swedish):

I like it a lot! Very sparse arranged. Mainly just the two very accomplished singers and their keyboards and the SONGS.

To Fred Simon: I gather you´ll like this one.

Skip ... where did you order from, and how much was it with shipping to the US?

Thanks,
Fred

Heard the samples and loved them. So ordered from cdon for just over £13.

Mine came from the same place as Diccus'. I do not remember ordering mine either. And it does not show up on my card yet. PG Eriksson. 90652 UMEA Sweden. Is Sweden a great country or what?! And not just the bikini team.

"Don't know how they got my address. It was sent by a P-G Eriksson from somewhere in Sweden."

Definitely the Sauvignon Blanc. No kidding.

Gee, maybe I should wait and see if it just shows up in my mailbox.

Thanks for that Skip, same address as my copy... my paranoia has now reduced to nil. But where did they get our addresses. Curious.

To all

Hope you get your copies!

Just thought that this album really deserved to be heard outside Sweden.

I don't know what a "windup" is. The idiom does not translate.

I recall looking at the CD based on this thread. I might have ordered it but resisted I believe because who needs a foreign cd of Steely Dan covers after all? But I was surprised when it arrived and did not see that charge on my Visa or Amex cards. Still do not.

Viral marketing? I am scratching my head on this one.

Still, I think the CD is distinctive and different enough to justify purchase. It really does sound great. I might buy several for holiday giving if they would waive shipping on the incremental units.

Who knows? It may be just a matter of time before these ladies are profiled on NPR, Oprah, and Amazon. Then they could be opening for the Dixie Chicks in your town...

I have never bought a cd on any internet site. I buy mine from the shops.

You must have given up a creditcard number on the site you ordered it from. Otherwise how is it even remotely possible that someone could place that order and get that half across the globe and to the right adress?
Have you filled in a form with your adresses on it?
Is it possible to exactly locate a computor to a specific adress in lets say Arkansas?

From my part it was just a tip on a album that I thought members on this forum might be interested in that´s all.

Munch

NO it isn't a wind up. I'm lost as to how they got my details, unless I registered with Skivnugget (who sell it) but i'm convinced, like Skip that I didn't pay for a copy as it was too expensive.

Now that i have listened to it a few times, I would pay £19 for it as it's wonderful.

Skip, 'winding up' is difficult to translate, I guess another expression would be 'pulling your leg'. Its basically telling someone a untruth as an instrument of humour. 'Taking the rise' is another expression

You would be surprised what can be done with a computer and a few chosen sites.
Posted on: 02 December 2006 by Gunnar Jansson
Well I had a look at skivhugget, the site that diccus is referring to.

Skivhugget let you order in english.

If you want to order you will have to fill in a form where you fill in your address and your credit card number otherwise you will not receive the item you want to buy.

Well if the Columbian drug cartell wants to use the US defence office servers that can be done no doubt, but a internet shopping buissness doing some kind of...... I seek the words.....

I might be wrong here but this really makes me wonder.

Would you fancy ringing PG Eriksson (Skivnugget) and asking him if he sends out free copies and if so how does he get addresses. My Swedish is a little non existent. Smile

I would just like to put this to bed.

Diccus

Certainly I will try to do that if you want to, but first try phoning him yourself.

I don´t have this mans telephone number, neither does it seems that he has any connection to Skivhugget...

I had a new look at the site and:

If You look at the site you will see that the store is located in Gothenburg wich is in the south west of Sweden. Now Umeå where the package is sent from, is in the northern of Sweden wich if very far away from Gothenburg.

It´s probably just as close to Rome from Gotehburg as to Umeå.

First of all you should phone Skivhugget.
Swedes are often good at speaking english.
There you can ask just what you are enquiering.

But I must say this gets stranger and stranger.
Are you sure you don´t have a friend who
ordered it for you???

My copy arrived today from cdon.com, and it's a wonderful record; great interpretations of the Dan's classics.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

geez, never have i been so restless and impatient then when i signed up for this forum!!! had to wait for the staff to approve my membership :-)

i have some answers to your questions, although Per-Gunnar Eriksson might like to remain a Swedish Santa Claus, still, i'd like to vouch for his dedication to his station Radio Dupree, Steely Dan, Frank Zappa and Swedish music such as can be found in the album Fire in the Hole.
My guess is, PGE read this while googling for info (the same way i found this forum) and couldn't help himself... you can read all about it in the Radio Dupree Blog, by the way.

and there's more, an interview with these wonderful singers:
Mizar5

okay. that's it, basically.
and don't be a stranger :-)

cheers,
Gina/Mizar5

"Its on the FORUM WALLS WELECE WOGER."

Yours may be but mine too? I just don't get it. I do not recall it but we all click through a google search or two everyday. I might have visited the blog, might have registered, and might have posted, and might even have gotten into a dialog. But I never gave anybody my home address I don't think. And nothing has showed up as a charge on my card.

Since my dad got Alzheimers, I fear absent-mindedness in the same way that Diccus is careful of stalkers. I could have been complicit in receiving this CD by some action of mine, but I doubt it.

Glad to have it though. It is one of my new favorites, and better yet with a story attached! And I would like to thank Santa for his generosity!

hi!

i am posting this on behalf of Santa Clas from Sweden:

"Hadn't seen that forum at all. Instead of me
registering could you be so kind and post the
following to the NAIM forum thread:

His name and address was entered into the Radio Dupree
giveaway.

The e-mail entering him was a hotmail address, but
obviously someone who knows him well enough to have
his real mailing address. And think/know he might like
some re-interpreted Steely Dan sounds.

We gave away three copies. They went to Canada,
England and USA respectively. They weren't promos from
the record company or Sara/Rebecka but bought and paid
for personally by me. You can call me Santa if you
want to... Winker

His address has not been published on any site in
connection with the giveaway, nor shared with anyone
outside of Radio Dupree. It won't be resold or used
for anything else in the future.

If he wants to contact me for more info he can write
me directly at pergunnareriksson@yahoo.se

Enjoy the record!"
