Digging up Dinosaurs, part II - Wishbone Ash

So anybody out there stuck their ears around the latest remix/remaster of the classic 'Argus', which I loved when I was a teeny. Are there any other Wishbone Ashe recordings worth checking out ?

The Argus re-issue is superb. The re-mix by Ash themselves(?Ted Turner) adds a new dimension to what was a classic. The sound is crystal clear and "light", an improvement on the original vinyl i think. I am hearing it in a new light and am playing it constantly, the bonus tracks "Live in Memphis EP 1972" are worth it alone, Jailbait,Pilgrim and a majestic 17 min version of Phoenix. Well packaged, cover sleeve notes etc only gripe is on cover the 'UFO'has been airbrushed out from what was the back LP cover.
For any Wishbone Ash fan-BUY IT, at £7.99/8.99 it is a bargain. Hope they will do the same for the first two albums.

I've got Argus on the original UK-release vinyl, the original US CD, and the very new CD remastered rerelease. The bonus 'Memphis' sessions are to my ears simple filler and do not really add anything to the very considerable strengths of the original tracks. But the remastering is definately a level above the original release. And if you want to hear WA really smoke.. get Live Dates instead/as well of the rather more insipid Memphis tracks.

Have you a different copy of Live dates?-I don't agree with your assessment, it is not a great sounding album and the Cd re-issue does nothing to improve the sound. Don't also think performances really capture them in full flight
