Has this product also went out of production ? I see it is no longer on the website or I'm I missing something ?

Well, about time I guess....never did work!

Hope you're right about new kit to come Stu Smile ....although I really do pray they start hiring more software engineers for all this stuff.....

They do seem very active about stripping all the AV stuff from the website.....except, still bizarrely, the DVD5.

You keep referring to new products do you care to shed some light ?. I for one am in the market for a stand mount speaker. I'm also getting to the stage were I'd be happy with a one box replacement.

Something that streamed, had five channel amp built in and did hd codecs. I'm simply getting fed up waiting on news its taking an age.

I also think its high time Naim sorted out the product line on the website and perhaps redesigned the products section so customers had a better idea of what is actually available the speaker line up on the site is high difficult to understand.

Neill, I agree. I do find it odd that a product as heavily promoted as the n-Vi was just a few years back is discontinued without any sort of announcement, and that we learn of it by its being removed from a website.

Would it really damage Naim to produce a statement now as to what's planned over the next 12 to 18 months over a range that's becoming remarkably volatile? In that way, potential customers could make some reasoned, and planned, purchasing decisions.

Naim used to be famous for an amazingly stable product line-up. That can no longer be said to be the case: while they don't quite match the big Japanese multinationals, I feel that they've moved a long way in that direction.

Pretty much agree Graham

The thing is how hard is it to say we no longer make this speaker that av product clearly the website is misleading I had no idea until I read on a thread that Naim no longer make N-Sat's as it stands at present Naim do no surround sound products and only one speaker ?.

I agree and have said for a long time why not say we plan to launch a new av product and these are the specs we hope to include in the product I don't think it would do any harm there are no alternatives now so it won't hurt sales of other products and will more than likely keep customers holding on to stay faithful to the brand. I for one paid 5k + for an AV2 and DVD5 and I want to stay with Naim but its taking an age for the new products to be launched even getting any sort of details is difficult.

Take another example I'm told on the hi-fi corner forum that there will be a s-100 stand mount speaker it would be good if it could be confirmed one way or the other. I live in scotland and don't get the same dealer access as others get so it seems a little unfair for other members to start dropping hints clearly fed from dealers.

Good customer service would be to actually to confirm what was planned maybe just maybe it would stop customers looking elsewhere and keep brand loyalty.

The n-Vi is still available via music-line in Germany. They know nothing about a production stop.
Posted on: 11 February 2010 by SC
...until their distribution stock ends.....

It's SO f*##*** frustrating and annoying - why can't Naim just come out and make clear and definitive statements about such things, like any other company/business in the 21st century.....It would make SO SO much difference......Hiding like a child hoping it will all go away just doesn't help anyone......

Still the same old approach since the DVD5 scaler debacle, hey.........

I'm sorry but wasn't there a statement made by NAIM , the other day that nSats are still in production?

If it was it needs to be made on all threads because people don't necessarily read the HiFi HT and DA threads.
Posted on: 11 February 2010 by Squawk Ident
Yeah, the good old scaler....

But probably you`re right. They have still a couple in stock, but then it`s over. I´m just wondering, why even the german distributor does not have a clue about the no-future of the n-Vi.
It´s sad for me, because it´s a real brilliant sounding AV-Machine (and I use for AV only). Okay, it has some minor bugs from time to time, but it´s great.

The n-SATS ? Yes, it was confirmed in a post by Doug that they were still very much in production...But that only came about, on another thread, as Neill had raised the issue after he had read (mistaken) of their demise elsewhere......But what about official announcements on say the n-SAT stands, DBLs, the i-Supply, DVD5 scaler, the AV2 and now the n-Vi.....ALL items just suddenly withdrawn, disappearing from the website and left to speculation (for both dealers and customers) when somebody notices the blank space on the website (if you're lucky) or goes to order something at their dealer - as I seem to recall happened with the n-SAT stands....

I mean, I SEE the SL2 is on the speaker product page. If I go along to my dealer on Saturday, can I purchase a pair or are the 'rumours' of their demise true...?

Yes, sometimes one of the moderators trundles along after a while and confirms a product is no more and 'website to be updated' (ha!) but it hardly looks good, let alone professional, planned or courteous.....

It must be me, but I've spent the last 10-15 years believing we live in the information age....!!!!??

Yes, I get that Stu....But my point is they are AFTER the event, after the public has been left to figure it out........and I don't think a one line post on this forum (which after all can only contain a fraction of end users) represents a public/official statement...Isn't there a news section on the main website ?

Don't worry, it must be me....

I knew there had been a statement about the nSats, what I couldn't remember is, that it was Doug who made it.

I agree at present the product page of the website is hardly representational of the current line up it really needs re-jigged to suit.

Naim tell me a newly revised website is coming. I guess the feeling is that if it's imminent then there's little point in changing the old site.
Posted on: 12 February 2010 by hungryhalibut
Come on Richard - pull the other one. Naim are quick enough to add press accolades to the site. The least they can do is keep the product information up to date. It's hardyt difficult to go into the page, move the mouse over the product and..... boom, it's gone.

don't know why I went searching for the nVi only not to find it on the website under av.

of course the page is still there if you google it.

and really it sounds like a great product

quote:
Combining DVD, home theatre and genuine high-end hi-fi music reproduction has suddenly become simple. The n-Vi delivers everything you need in one box: DVD and CD player, AV Processor, audio preamplifier and five-channel audio power amplifier. And each element expresses everything we know about making true to life music and video in the home.

n-Vi is available now with an optional FM/DAB radio module. Surround sound modes include Dolby Digital, DTS and Dolby Pro Logic II.

Naim’s design team recognised that many Naim owners are primarily music enthusiasts and while adding AV to their systems would be a bonus they were perhaps not so convinced as to move to a separate DVD player and AV processor. In addition, many owners wish to have AV systems but not in the same room as their hi-fi system. n-Vi satisfies these demands and includes all the expertise, skills and attention to detail you would expect from a Naim product. The into-one-box integration has not lessened the desire or indeed even the requirement to deliver traditional Naim values of musical performance and the newer values of video and digital signal processing as illustrated by the award winning DVD5 DVD player and AV2 AV processor.

All you need to do for a complete surround sound system is add the speakers: conveniently, the n-System (comprising the n-Sats, n-Cent and n-SUB provides a perfect match).

Naim certainly is changing.
