hello girls.
what's the best (=safe & cheapest) option to get a small Napsc from the UK to Germany?
30 pounds sounds a bit excessive doesn't it?

blackforest - whoever you use, please do not use AMTRAK - in my opinion they are the absolute pits

A heavy item of hifi was sent to us from UK to Spain and it arrived (eventually)- you've guessed it - destroyed!! Despite superb packaging and labelling (in English & Spanish) we think the carriers did their best to break the contents of the box.
Also important - the message Received but not examined MUST accompany the signature on receipt (in English and German?). Otherwise any claims if damaged could be thrown out!!
Best of luck, Graeme

Take a look at some of the courier sites - just out of curiosity I went to www.Parcelforce.com
I had to make a few assumptions to get a price out of the system - weight 3kg, box size 15cm x 15cm x 30cm - and the prices varied from £26 to just over £45 sepending on how quickly you wanted it. The £26 service offered 3-day, no tracking, insured up to £150.
So maybe the £30 you've been quoted isn't such a deal after all.
Steve.

I recently posted a napsc from Ireland to England and the post office charge was €29, no insurance but tracking.
It arrived no problem and quite speedily.
The napsc is a heavy little beast and seems to just get into a particular range for postage as a Hicap I posted to Manchester was only €10 more.
