This Easter Weekend . What will you do?

Posted by: Lomo on 24 March 2005

At the moment it is 9pm on thursday evening. I have the Landie packed, just have to add the food and drinks and tomorrow morning heading to Hurricane Station on The Mitchell River about two hours west of Cairns. We'll spend all Easter on the river and after good recent rains reports are that there is abundant water flowing.
Same time last year it was dry and the rivers were merely a series of waterholes full of freshwater crocs. These are small compared to the saltwater variety and harmless, just the same!!!
Hope you all have a safe and pleasant Easter.
See you after the break.

Ahhhhhhhhh to be in Cairns - I was there for a few nights about eighteen months ago. I stayed in "The Lakes" - in a fantastic two bedroomed apartment for not very much money at all. To be honest Lomo, I wish I was there Winker

....but I'm cooking dinner for a couple of friends tomorrow and then just sitting about for a few days before coming back to my busy period in work.

Started my weekend sitting out by the Sydney Opera House with a good drink watching the sun set....

Intend to have a music weekend - might pick up some Sonus Faber Cremonas on Saturday to try - will be having fun with the kids and then tourist stuff round Sydney when my brother arrives from the UK.

Will finish the weekend off with a good dose of jetboating round Sydney harbour and a dinner at the beautiful Bather's Pavillion restuarant in Balmoral Beach - yum.

Here's a link to the Jetboat - take a look at the video!

You poor deprived lot. I'll think of you while I'm painting the garden fence and gate, digging the garden, and changing the taps in the downstairs lavatory. The car is overdue for a clean too but you can have too much fun in a week-end.

I might sneak in a few hours online play of Command and Conquer: Zero Hour. Starting right now.

I might have a shower Friday morning. I normally have one once a month whether I need it or not.

Going to see Sharon Shannon and Eliza Carthy on Saturday. Should be good. Live music puts all this silly HiFi nonsense in its place.

I will be working as usual. Sad but profitable. There will be music breaks and a walk around the village on Sunday during our rather dreary annual boot fair, which is euphemistically called the Daffodil Festival. The one day of the year when the village is awash with sundry idiots, queuing up for first aid after being thrown out of the pub. The inflatable castles will be bouncing (but that’s OK because the kids love it) and if nothing else, at least the classic cars will be lined up in the field opposite our house. There’s usually a big selection of pretty tasty vehicles – so at least that’s something. With any luck it will rain.

You miserable sausage, Harry! At least this year there will be daffodils too see unlike last year when they'd all burned off and were looking rather spent. Agree about the classic cars though - I enjoy that bit Smile Alas, I'll be missing the whole shebang as I'm up in Shropshire seeing my folks and having the help of my brother fitting my new sat-nav unit to the car. Back for Monday's annual duck race down our local. Always a good laugh.

After a good meal this evening and some reasonable wine, which is now working very well thank you wery much (in its digestive capacity naturally) I did consider going out later. After a two second or even a second thought I've decisded to stay in and watch a decent version of "Jude the Obscure" or continue reading my E.M Forster, as I'm bloated to say the least, as well as knowing I'm bound to start smoking in the local student gaff, as surely as knowing if I posted any of my previous embarrassing moments I'd be most likely to regret it in the moaning, innit.
