I mean, WHAT?! Really?! How is this even possible?! On what alternative planet did this happen? It can't possibly be for the (relatively) paltry $1 million. I can't even begin to process this ... my head might just explode!

Elton, you have written some of the greatest songs ever ... thanks a lot for shitting all over them and our memories. Asshole!

Stu, I'm with you on Madman Across the Water, one of the best ever by anyone.

Also, it's absolutely true that Elton has done much good for the world, primarily his AIDS foundation. Which is why I'm even more incredulous about this Limbaugh gig ... here you have a man who has done as much as almost anyone to give hope to those with AIDS, playing for someone who has done as much as almost anyone to dash the hopes of those with AIDS. Just doesn't make sense.

I don't want to get involved in the politics of this thread, but we went to see Elton in Prague last Thursday. It was one of the best concerts I have ever been to and I thought he was fabulous.

Yes, it went to his AIDS foundation. Which begs the question: why didn't he just say, "No, thanks, Rush ... I don't play private gigs for someone who is an egregious transgressor of a persecuted group of which I am a member. I will gladly take $1 million of my own money and send it to my AIDS foundation."

Hi Fred.

Perhaps, as Munch says, the irony of taking money from such a creature and using it to help those whom he hates was too great a challenge to ignore?

Does seem a little odd though. Perhaps knowing Limbaugh's money has gone to the aids foundation was motive enough for EJ to do it to the man.
