Celine Dion - should I or shouldn't I?

Posted by: DaveBk on 16 April 2009

I was sitting in a dress shop while my wife tried on several outfits this afternoon. In the background there was a CD playing a female vocalist I did not recognise so I asked the shop assistant what it was... Celine Dion - Taking Chances. Previously I have avoided her material, but the few tracks I heard seemed quite good. Is it worth buying the album, or did I have a temporary good taste failure?

Dave, I suggest next time you're both in the shop, your wife takes the seat and you try the dress on.

OK, Understood. My wife's usually a jeans and T-Shirt kinda girl. I must have been overcome by the site of her in a dress!

When in dress shops, stick to material for the wife Dave.

Celine Dion walks into a bar.

Barman says: "Why the long face"?

I knew it was a mental abheration - the thought has been purged from my mind. Last day of Easter holiday, the wife's out all day so time for some serious listening - promise no long faced Canadians!

I'm 6'5" and 280lb, she's 5'2" and much lighter - it would never work! Not that I'm in to that sort of thing anyway Big Grin

I've always agreed with everything you've said and you're always right.

SWMBO bought a BluRay of her concert in Las Vegas and I quite like some of it. It's certainly a superbly staged concert.

Anyway, what's so wrong with dressing up in women's clothing? I mean, we blokes all like to put on a dress every now and again...

Dave,

Go for it don't listen the Musical Misogynists :P on this forum some of these guys think what I listen to is rubbish, can you believe that, so if I listened to them I'd be listening to Blues, the Blues & and well more of the Blues.

Step back into the light! Save yourself before it's too late.....I would even have to recommend Diana Krall before Ms D., and that would only be if there was nothing, I mean nothing, else in the house to play.
Don't beat yourself up, just know where not to go....

I've put the whole experience behind me now and am moving on to a new phase in my life. I'm sorry I contaminated this fine forum with her name and promise to go and listen to some proper music later.

Great thread.

Celine is like Crowded House or Chris de Burgh in my book...there's no excuse for it (ever) Winker

...but you should see the rubbish I listen to.

The Beatles released an album of No. 1's. In my opinion Celine Dion has only released No. 2's Razz
