Bangalore - I'll get me coat..
Posted by: Andy Kirby on 26 June 2005
Company is sending me out to Bangalore for a couple of weeks, I'll be working most of the time but any hints and tips on what to see, what to buy and what to avoid would be appreciated. Mrs Andy will be with me and will have lots of time to see the area while I am working so any advice for a woman on her own would be helpful.
Thanks
Andy

Andy,
Bangalore is big, bustling and hot. I was there about 10 years ago and remember visiting the Race Course there. Great fun and beautiful food. Not far away is the city of Mysore, which is also worth a visit. A word of advice: don't wear open sandals in the dirty streets. I did and my legs became infected and I had to visit Mysore hospital, an eye opener to say the least.
Have fun.
Sean

Ps: I believe it's also where Ghandi's great Scottish-esque cousin was born Mahatma-Coat ?

A local curryhouse on the Gold Coast is in trouble with the descendents of Mahatma Gandi.
The caf is named "Handi Ghandi" and has as its logo a drawing of Gandi holding a takeaway box.
Great Grandson Tushar is outraged and the owners are changing the logo to a more generic Indian but retaining the name.
Especially offensive was the sale of beef curries as beef is considered sacred by Hindus.
More Handi Ghandis will open soon in Sydney and it is hoped that the change of logo may avert an international incident.
