Well today is the Anniversary of the end of the Iraq War and unfortunately the first Australian hostage has now been taken.

Well it hasn't taken the Aussies long to react. I heard on the radio this morning that John Howard's sending in some task force to retrieve the hostage.

Yes, task force on the way, should be almost there, application made to the UN for assistance[though normally we tell them that they are not worth two bob] and desperately seeking help from all of our friends.
The PM says he feels responsible but doesn't feel responsible , both at the same time. We have made it clear that no ransom will be paid or deal will be done. This is rather undermined by other countries responses in this situation.
I repeat, the war 'ended' two years ago. I presume that Mr. Bush has a plan to finish the job he started while he is still in office.
He just needs everyone to co-operate.

I heard Gordon Brown on the tv this morning and he justified the war as being right "British national economic interests". Slip of the tongue or the truth for the first time?
I was amazed (ok I wasn't really) that the BBC interviewer didn't question him on that statement.
