LP12, Aro, and ?

Hi,
I have made the mistake of putting my Aro on my LP12
To cut a long story short, I had previously made comparisons between my LP12/Vahalla/Ittok and my Thorens 124/Ittok and much preferred the later, to the point I was considering selling the LP12.
The Aro mounted on the 124 gives improvement (over the Ittok) but I felt something was wrong somewhere. I first put it on the new Dyna cartridge and was patiently waiting for the burn in period to end, until I tried the Aro on the LP12.....
I was not at all expecting what I've heard! The LP12 turned out to be a totally different beast, music flows with ease, I was completely captivated and played LPs over LPs all day long.
My LP12 is a pre-cirkus, Valhalla model. The big problem is that I need to have
convenient 45rpm replay as I have a large singles collection (almost as much as LPs),
so it obviously leads me to a Lingo.
I have made a search in the forum archive and the general consensus is Aro/'Geddon or
Ekos/Lingo, with generally a preference for the Armageddon.
So my questions to experienced LP12 owners out there are:
- what can I expect from a Lingo/Aro combination?
- I read the Lingo 2 is better than the first, but there's also the "Weekes" mods that improve it a lot.
What kind of difference I have to expect between a "1 modded" and a "2"?
- is it really worth buying a Lingo 2 or hunting for a S/H first model? (best VFM?)
