FYI, I plugged in my old Sony DVD player, and on programme material the visible portion of the picture is the same as on the n-vi. So it does look like this is an issue with the Sony TV implementation of SCART/RGB.

Thanks Duncan,

It has also been seen on other brands of CRT via SCART too, but to a much lesser extent.

I presume that the RGB offset voltage for the "x" position is not set to the SCART standard inside the sets that do this...why, I don't know though.

Duncan,

Firmware version: You can ask your dealer to check before they install the unit - or if you already have it just look at the top of the Main Menu screen on you TV display when you hit Set-up on the remote.

PSU issues - You'll usually find that the unit just completely locks up with no response to front panel or remote. If you're lucky you'll see a "Power Out - Entering Standby" message but it can just happen when the units half-way through a CD or DVD or just left powered on.

Solution: I found the only temporary solution is to turn off the unit at the rear mains switch wait for 60 seconds and then power up again. If you're lucky it's remembered all your speaker set-up but this fault is so severe it can just wipe it's own memory. It once took me three "Power Outs" just to watch the last 10 minutes of Wallace and Grommitt !

The latest firmware (v.2.6.6.163) is much better but still crashes frequently due to the faulty PSU hardware - as Naim admitted to my dealer.

Good luck - it does sound and look fantastic when it works.
