Have been listening to the new Killing Joke CD. A real rocker with Dave Grohl on the drums........Bring back punk

It's pretty good, isn't it?
With the return of Jane's Addiction (though obviously not a punk band) and Killing Joke in the same month, life bodes well for power chords.
I wonder who will be next? A dusted-off Dickies? A re-vitalised Vibrators? All joking aside, it's good to hear something solid like the new Killing Joke album, rather than the bubble-punk of Busted.
On another note, that Dave Grohl: what a guy? Queens of the Stone Age, Tenacious D, and now Killing Joke? He's the man!

The new Killing Joke CD, is very heavy indeed, great band. Nice production as well.
The best KJ CD in many years, top stuff.
Looking forward to seeing them at V Festival

Well , all IMHO obviously, but I found it profoundly lame and very disappointing. I used to be a big KJ fan in my teens, but this is the worst thing they've produced for a long time.
Musically it's just a bit dull and cliche-ridden. Lyrically it's terrible - just embarrassing to listen to. It may be slightly better than bubble-punk, but only just. They're trying too hard (perhaps Grohl's influence or commercial reasons) to sound like every other American hard rock act.
Andy Gill's production (and I'm assuming it's Gang of Four Andy Gill) is unsurprisingly very good, but when it comes to the art of political songwriting perhaps he should have given them a bit more of a steer.

Anyone seen the album on vinyl yet?
I've got the 45 with 'The Ultimate Wardance' on it. Preferred the original, but there you are.
There have been brilliant (no joke intended) at times, esp. when on the Metal / dub crossover - Nervous System / Turn to Red for example.
Still one of the best debut albuns around.
