Could this be the end of Tony?

Ironic after leading the party to three decisive general election victories.

He must be knackered. I would have thought he needed a rest personally and would be happy to back out now after achieving what no Labour leader has managed before. He must have no more real personal goals and therefore has really come to a good point to end his reign. I think GB will be taking over around Christmas.

To which GB do you refer kind Sir ?

Could a Scot win the popular vote in England? The Scottish parliment etc is not popular in England.
Just a thought.

Blair is a born Scot as well as being a practicing Catholic, innee.

And when he's finished practicing....?

What I find quite amusing is that there is a significant chance that for the next general election all the main party leaders might be Scottish.

The media seem to be assuming that Brown will be the next PM but all the English folk I know (those who live in England anyway) seem to reckon that a genuine Scot (Blair's not a real Scot) would not be acceptable. What's the real perception down there?

That's a worryingly racist point of view if true, but given their next choice might be between Brown, Rifkind and the Lib-dem booze-bag what are they going to do? Will we see even more English votes for the BNP?

You refer to the top man Scottish Liberal booze-bag Daddy with the Irish name, but as everybody knows (L Cohen does anyway) Jack Straw will follow Blair as PM, as he's the only true Internationalist experience with any nouse amongst them.

Agreed Steve. I wouldn't have been surprised to see John Smith win an election one term sooner than Blair. I think that when it comes to who you think you can trust (always an illusion with politicians, granted) nothing else matters.

Only as 'racist' as the Scottish wanting devolution. The vast majority of the UK is English, we do not have a seperate parliment, we have Scottish, Welsh and Irish mps voting on issues that affect us, yet the Scots and Welsh have there own parliments (albeit more like expensive mascots then anything else). I have no problem with having a Scottish PM (of scottish seat) if Scotland actually wants to be fully a part of the UK, but as longs as popular opinion North of the border is generally anti English I don't particularly like the idea of a Scottish PM (not somebody who has my best interests at heart), I suspect that I might not be alone.

You do talk some bollocks at times but that's a good one even from you.
The Scottish parliament is little more than a glorified council with little control over the issues that count. Our parliament weren't allowed any kind of say in whether we took part in the liars illegal war, and until such times we do have such control then Scottish MP's inclusion in the UK parliament is essential.
If you can't see that then the BNP are ready to welcome your bigotries with open arms...

I'd have found it difficult to imagine a labour party led by John Smith leading us into an illegal war against the will of the people.

You daft buggers, Ken Clarke is going to be the next PM

I'd like to agree with that too. I think there's a significant change that it would have been better handled, and maybe we wouldn't have joined in. Tony the Boy God deserves all the shit that will stick to him and more, but the war itself (as opposed to the way we were fooled into it) is not a party political issue IMO. Whoever was in charge at the time would have been left holding that grenade.
It's easy to ponder what would have been if Smith had lived. Bit pointless I suppose, but I can't help wondering how different things MIGHT be.

When he's finished knocking up his new cabinet, we could see a return of Plonkett, Clarke will stay there (he's only real future PM marterial after Jack, crafty Git too), I'm just wondering who'll be new F-Sec, A bird maybe ?

Interesting take on it. Honestly, these blasted people who don’t have the good grace to respect a foreign nation of occupation. They should know their place huh?
I’d never seen it that way before.

I know all of the main parties agreed that it would be to all of their advantages, I know it's been widely reported that numbers were higher than ever, but I'm slightly confused here, as I've heard absolutely nothing on any media outlet about them, were they included in yesterdays results, or are they null & void or
what ?
WHERE ARE THE TENS OF THOUSANDS+ OF POSTAL VOTES THEN ?
Fritz Von Missing the plot probably as per
usual, innit
