Calling "Intro" users!
Posted by: blythe on 01 March 2004
Any "Intro" speaker users (or ex users) out there care to tell me where the serial number is on them? A pictures would be helpful :-)
Thanks, Martin.
Computers are supposed to work on 1's and 0's - in other words "Yes" or "No" - why does mine frequently say "Maybe"?......
Thanks, Martin.

Hi Martin,
you must lift the top part of the Intro ( the woofer box ), then you can see the serial No. of the speaker on the upper side of the lower part ( the tweeter box ). Do not snap the woofercable!

When you say "do not snap the woofer cable" is the woofer cable actually connected through the "top box" or is it safe to look if you first remove the speaker cables?
I'm not sure what you mean here - sorry!

Blythe
He means that the top box (LF unit) is connected to the x/over in the bottom box via a + & - cable which is a fly lead terminated in 4mm sockets. It's real easy to remove as the lead is long enough for you to lift the box and get your hand inside to disconnect.

Thanks Doug!
I'll email the seller and hopefully get the information required
Why on earth did you decide to put the serial number in there instead of on a nice label on the back?????????
By the way, the Nait 1 is a Gem!
Regards, Martin.

Blythe
I'm running a pair of the latest Intro 2's and they are bloody superb - very underrated I reckon.
But............ they've been through a few incarnations as you may be aware. The earliest ones had a disastrously simple x/o and were not well received, to say the least.
An external 'SBL type' x/o followed. Then they went back to a better internal x/o.
Latterly the Intro 2 has had the much better Credo cabinet, making it something of a less sophisticated SBL.
Check those serial numbers and speak to Naim.
Good luck.

Thanks for everyoens help.
I've decided that the ones I've been looking at - sans serial numbers are too old and of undertermined origin, so I'm going to get a recent pair when I find some.
I will of course give the full report in due course
That report is likely to be a comparison between Royd Minstrel SE's, maybe the Royd Doublet and Naim Intro, fed by a NAP150 - source to be decided.......
