Did anyone hear

last night's Prom with Renee Fleming. I listened via my NAT02 and watched via the tele. Renee's voice control was something to behold/hear and she portrayed so much emotion. The visual really adds to the aural.

I'm not a great fan of Strauss usually but her performance in the Four Last Songs was inspiring and you could feel the emotion hanging in the air it really had me hooked. It was spoilt at the end a little by some clown in the audience clearly feeling he had to start the applause going before anyone else. I just felt it needed a few more seconds for everything to just hang there. Renne I think felt that too.

The Philarmonia were excllent and brilliantly led by Christolph Eschenbach. How these guys conduct without the music is beyond me.
