John Williams , Naimgaim and the MFS

Last Thursday I did a gig with Classical guitarist, John Williams. On his tours he requests the promoter to get a "home Hi-Fi amp and high-end speakers". I was contacted for the Austin show through The Austin Classical Guitar Society. I ran his AKG 414 into a mic pre amp out to DBX equalizers balanced out to Cyrus Mono X amps and cable to the Neat MFS. I would've run a 250, but the amps had to be balanced. The Cyrus did a swell job and provided the muscle to fill a church! I was paranoid about using home gear in a live setting. Usually a good mixture for disaster! John assured me it wasn't going to be that loud. It was more sound enhancement, than sound reinforcement. It sounded EXCELLENT! The room was large enough for 1000 people. The MFS simply amplified his acoustic, just a tad to cut through and also to provide him with monitors.
He was a good humered guy and put up with me kidding him about turning it up to "11" and to watch his hair when the pyrotechnics blow.
I asked him what he uses at home. Currently it's a Japanese Sat / Sub system with a 12 watt solid state amp... I think he said it was an Eclipse system, which I've never heard of. He has used Naim in the past and spoke highly of ATC.
Great evening and experience!
