Shortly, David--we are revising price lists, updating the NANA web site and additional things that go along with new product introductions. (This excludes, of course, the most important thing--having new products to sell!)

Do make sure that your installed copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader is current (we use 5.0 here)--most people I've spoken to have had little trouble downloading and viewing the pages.

Let's save the forests for medium-density fiberboard instead! razz

my computer (a dell) has adobe 3.0. How do I download to 5.0? Is it free? Anyone know? thanks in advance, david.

Hi David-

Try:

Download Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0

on the Adobe site. There are quite a few incompatibilities with newer PDF files and the older Acrobat Reader (I learned this the hard way when I did the last NANA ad in Stereophile).

I have gone for the Paper Capture (5.0) version. I hope this is the correct one.

Hi Steve,

Not sure about the paper version (Dave D.?) but this new link will get you what's needed. Complete the steps to download Acrobat Reader v5.0.

A small but possibly significant factor in readability of PDFs can be screen resolution.

If this is set to low - as it often is on older computers - then parts of PDFs can be hard to read.

It's worth checking your settings!

Geoff

FYI

Although I use 1024 x 768, True Colour (32 Bit) and a have 19 inch monitors here (at work) and at home, I realise that this is not the norm. 800 x 600 is the minimum that I design for on the web. Headaches are often caused by either sitting to close to the screen, or not having the refresh rate set at 75Hz or above, causing the image to flicker. Some older monitors/graphics cards do not have the capability to cope with this.

regards
Geoff

So much for Microsoft Internet Explorer's cut and paste, right?!

As for blurry PDFs, please keep in mind that a) rasterized images are often down-sampled to 72 DPI for Web PDFs (file size, of course) and b) PDF quality has everything to do with how you distill the original file in he first place.

UPDATE: problem is in InfoPop software appending characters randomly into posts--this is my fifth attempt!t

Works in PDF, downloaded and opened for me looks great. You PC boys tut tut.

Acrobat three has trouble opening anything, get up to date.

garyi,

I do use a Mac with OSX as well as a PC and I have never had any trouble with either!

Naim looks good on both!

Cheers

Looks fine in Preview as well as Carbonized Acrobat Reader 5...currently previewing a few of the next magazine ads.

David, give us the feed on OSX 10.1, its on order is it worth the wait?

Have found out that Epson arn't supporting my printer, narf!

Paul,

I must say that I really do love the new styling and elegant simplicity of the 6-50's casework. The backlit logo in particular is quite fetching. big grin

Regarding the subtle negative comments about its appearance in the newsletter i.e. 'a Naim amplifier designed to be hidden and taken for granted' and '...not simply a crude workhorse', I would think it somewhat disingenuous to describe something that looks identical to your current mid-upper range, 2 channel amplifiers, in such a manner. confused

Maybe I am reading it the wrong way?

I know the feeling--the Epson Stylus Color 900G we use here (for PressReady proofing) will likely never be supported (no big deal--this machine's a 604e anyways); my Stylus Photo 870 at home is on the "to do" list for Epson's OS X 10.1 drivers.

The OS is absolutely stunning on my dual G4 at home, though it disabled my Griffin serial port (for external modem, formerly MIDI use) for the short term. Make sure you update your firmware--this provided a great speed-boost in 9.x as well.

Demand, a number of our customers are having sound extended around the home, keeping the same family of sound is a high priority. We have several very large houses being fully kiited out with Naim right now.

Oh Dear, great one liner, if you think a little deeper you might be able to work it out.

Can we expect to see the allaes in the shops soon?

(Champing at the bit...)

Chris, we are having problems with our cabinet people they keep breaking all delivery dates, Hornslett.
They have told us we will get cabinets shipped from them October 9th. Fingers crossed

Cheers. I have updated the firmware in aticipation, not noticable difference in 10.0.4

I hope they have sorted out the mail programme!

What a shame about the epson, mine is USB and less than 6 months old and no mention of it anywhere. What do you do though? There ain't a lot you can do except buy another printer.

It won't be epson, I have found the blank text print to be poor any how.
