I 'can(')t (ata)' concentrate on the music you see, so what can I do? Go to work now and mind the 'jam' on the way. I need to 'conserve' my energy as a 'source' of inspiration later. I just hope I can keep the 'steam' up till ten o' clock or my 'pans' will go cold, and I'll be a (bigger?) failure!! Fred

I used to like 'Pan's People' (Probably afore your time matey?), though I recall Dave Allen being big in Norway in the early days, and boy did he drink some, even on stage

A close school friend of mine who was just starting his first team career at Craven Cottage with Fulham, when George Best was just close to finishing his, and so as well as playing with the Master Sir Bobby as well, he'd had quite a few legends around him indeed. If I recall; Best used to get some £500 a game (Depending on wether he made training etc, or not) on a game to game basis.
I personally rate Best as definately in the top 5 Greatest players of the modern game, though we'd have to get an opinion from Our Mattt I expect on that one, he being the Cell's long lost expert on all matters sporting, innee (or Nime even ?)
Northern Ireland, Ireland, Football, has certainly lost one of it's greatest sons, no matter what one thinks of him, and I'm sure there'll be plenty of pints turned his way tonight, and that's a fact, especially in Ulster.
P.S. It's nice to see that the UK 'media' is classifying 'Alcoholism' as a 'Disease' all of a sudden 'How Strange?' let's hope it lasts, and attitudes properly change then, innit
Gordon Banks ! Who's he?
Brrrp:
Will Chris Evans get the filum role?

I have to admit 'Shreak Shreak' that I'm pretty well taken with Mackers new single from his latest long playing tirty tree & a turd. I'm not sure what kind of system he has? nor if he's even heard of Naim kit (though I expect he has!), and I'm very sorry if this post is far too musically inclined for most folks tastes, yes! I'm really, really, sorry, innit
For all of you
Mind you! Now that he's a proud, full on, double whammy Cheesburger American Citizen, I suppose I should really be sorry for him more than anybody?
I didn't know that Pete Best once played for Man U !!!

Great to see the Mock-Oscar-Aspiring Sugar Plum Fairy PM, cashing in on as much possible political 'Public Sympathy/currency' as he can over GB's unsurprising demise. Why doesn't he just keep his bloody mouth shut sometimes, and get on with what the taxpayer employs him for, sadly rather reminiscent of Ken B. methinks
You're either with us, or you're not a Scouser

N.B. I wonder what Capital Blair/Hain, etc, may try to gain around next weeks funeral in Belfast, given that Best was an icon never associated with politics? it'll be interesting to see just how far they'll go with their insincere bullshit, disguised as compassion

Football matches across the land will hold a moments silence for Bests demise this weekend, and for me personally none will be more poignant for the atmosphere and respect that I know will be duly given to him as one the the greatest Masters of the game than at Sunday's 16:00hrs meeting at Upton Park against The Old Firm themselves, no matter what the result, innit

Dresdens wonderful Christmas market/fete is now up and running for the 571st time (oldest in Germany), and I can almost smell the cake from here. Although a great fan of traditional British Christmas cake (must be the booze in it, innit, eh!), the German version is also simply delicious, though totally different, a bit like Greek wedding cake if anybody knows that? Berlin being well over 750 Years old now, also boasts many a local Christmas Market too, and what with today's first snow, as well as a wee dram of the old piping-hot wine, with cloves etc, and a drop of rum to-boot (if requested)(I like it with Calva personally) or just pure as is the case with most 'non boozy' folk like Doctors, musicians, & journo's.
Strangely enough, even with mega-unemployment across the board, and 24/7 boozing also awailable whenever one wants it (also across the board) one very rarely sees totally out of control binge-drinkers, bravely picking fights with little old ladies and foreign looking people in the streets for larfs, innit
I wonder Why?
Many Tens of thousands of Berliners literally died of hunger and cold, during, and well after the war, unlike in more Western cities across Europe at the time, so I suppose this survival spirit is part of the game that they've subconsciously cultivated, especially at this time of the year

Prohibition, that's the answer:
Mind you it wont help all those Obese folk out there 'TODAY-NOW-OF-ALL-AGES-WHO-ARE-REFUSED-NHS-JOINT-CARE-CASH' because some mindless ARROGANT Incompetent MORONS are in some areas deciding to PLAY GOD WITH YOUR MONEY, and 'SUPPOSEDLY' putting it into more PROFITABLE PLACES
MORE PROFITABLE FOR WHO THOUGH, I'M ALLRIGHT SO IT DOESN't worry me; INNIT jOAN
P.S. Because somebody is a nurse, etc, etc, it doesn't make them any more special in respect of the 'priority-list-transplants-etc, than anybody else, dussit.
I didn't know that Britain considered alcoholism as a disease? How can somebody be responsible & blamed for catching a disease on their own in this day and age, Crazy

Parry's a big name in Swindon Football history (as we all know), but I'm not sure if George Best was ever trained by one of them, though he did do a bloody lot for Charity, and out of his own pocket too, innit

Come on, Fritz, give her a few days in office before you predict her imminent demise.
Amazingly enough Markus me old uro-Phile, I did actually consider very recently starting such a similarly named thread myself, but thought better of it. Firstly I couldn't possibly feel responsible for leaving all of you avid free-thinking Cell prisoners out there without a real woice for the uniwersal cause for truth at your disposal, as well as not inadvertantly getting up the hopes of a no-doubt very small minority into the bargain as well of course , innit.
Yes! If I answer you seriously in respect of Dr Merkel, I'm hopeful that she'll be an excellent Chancellor, and am already hearing good reports from all sides of the street. As you may be aware, Germans generally don't gamble on the stock market, or take mega daft financial 'Quick-Fix' risks like 'certain' other
lands, so their infrastructure is mainly very sound indeed (and is a priority to maintain in good working order). The ability to work in political coalition is nothing new either, as I'm sure you're also well aware, the general good of the Country being the ultimate goal, with power being juggled here and there to suit everybodys aims, as far as is possible, but always with realistic intelligent compramise waiting in the wings I feel.
I assume that you are a German national, and therefore cast a vote in the last general election? and as I unfortunately couldn't do, (UK neither) my opinion is meaningless in the general scheme of things (nothing new there then). If you yourself did in fact excercise your Democratic right & privelege (I'm not interested in who you voted for) I'm very pleased for you, but on the other hand if you didn't, I feel like me, you have absolutely no say on the matter 'morally' and you should ask yourself why?
But being German, I'm sure you did anyway, unless of course as with me, you've been outside for too long to be eligible anymore, innit
Tschu, Fritz von Weihnachtsstolle
P.S. I'm pretty convinced that Tony Blair is a Bse man too
N.B. Now that England is in Europe, I expect things'll slowly become more socially orientated there as well, nicely complimenting the greed and grab culture that's so nicely in control there at present, innit !!!

It seems almost churlish to agree with your Saturday moaning musings me old toddy imbiber... but isn't it bløødy amazing that they don't whip the forces out at the earliest opportunity?
Wars are a thing of the past. It's all intelligent combat now where the soldier (or hello sailor) has to think on his feet or die. Regular training away from shooting up the barracks and bullying each other would seem ideal recreationary activities and keeep them away from the boozer too.
It hardly seems worth mentioning the goodwill this would bring in civy street. But I suppose the top men are still poncing around in the 1700's thinking it beneath them to use their private armies for actual good..innit?
They have unique vehicles and skills even by the snobby 4WD standards of today. All ideally placed near areas of rough ground geographically speaking.
It all seems so obvous to one of limited intellect like myself. What are they afraid of? Being seen to be a bunch of over-equipped twerps who can't manage anything unless some NCO is bawling specific orders at them every step of the way? Perhaps they are afraid the squaddies will all go AWOL as soon as they are out of sight? Wot wiv none of them not avin' GPS like, innit?

Good morning. Has anything happened? Snow has all gone though...
The promotion on two leading super-market steam pudding finishes next Monday, so I expect that I'll be redundant on Friday. Hey, stranger things have happened.
I saw A Merkel in the paper standing next to T Blair outside Number 10. She looked splendid and he looked tired out. What is the matter I wonder?

I missed all the stuff about George Best really, luckily, or so it sounds, but I would think it would be terribly difficult to know from the media, if he was a good guy. Is this another set them up and bowl them down case? I remember him playing footbll, but was too young to see what all the fuss was about. On the other hand I was slightly saddened by some deaths in the public eye. Willie Rushton used to make me laugh, and Brian Johnstone was good value. But surely it is very difficult to summon much affection for some person, never met, who was very talented in theri field. I am just neutral on it. I imagine he enjoyed his life much of the ime, which is something everyone should do, and better than being a boring kill-joy.

I suppose in a way it was lucky that Georgie Best fucked himself up by being addicted to a 'legal substance' otherwise all those tens of millions of tax-paid pints that went down last night in his honour, and no doubt this evening as well too, could just as easily have gone up millions of fans noses, and the poor old Chancellor wouldn't have got a robin farthin now would he?
It's so true, it's almost believable, innit:
N.B. Fredders me Old Pie, Considering the present price of rising Gas, and the chilly snap and all, wouldn't it maybe be in your future financial interests to actively promote Tarts with a vengeance second to none ?
P.S. Traditionally here in Germany/urope one scoffs copious amounts of hot/warm Jam-filled doughnuts at New Year (Sylvester) to compliment the fireworks and Champers, and if one is really lucky (like I once was) you can land with that really special 1 in a 100 doughnut filled to the brim with breathtakingly hot mustard, and you must eat it naturally in order not to break the Magic Spell for the following years unemployment, etc Yummy :

There are no fat people, drug addicts, spendaholics or alcoholics in POW/refugee/prison camps... Fortunately the freedom to have an obsession doesn't mean most people feel the need to indulge.

Dear Nime,
Concentration camps seem a bit extreme as a reaction to the obesity problem. But apparently doctors are now going to decide if you can have a hip replacement op on the basis of whether the potential patient is overweight in parts of the UK. I thought we elected a New Labour Government, not a Nazi one. I fortunately voted for another party, and my Candidate won too. Rarely do I back a winner these days.
Dear Fritz,
Promoter of tarts! Me! Wouldn't people say I had a vested interest! As I walk out of the room wiping cream and jam from round my mouth, for which I have been cautioned let me add...

It seems a bit odd that nobody has come up with a POW-type camp environment to treat the portly population en bulk. A sort of second generation Bluntlines.
Why should you have to pay a fortune to stay at a posh place which only serves the odd leaf of lettuce and showers you with the fire hose? When Bliar can probably accomodate you on a whim and a whisper from "Burnin's" crusaders.
Just mention AlKapop twice in your emails and you'll get free transport to the "health resort" too! (allegedly) Just think of the health benefits! They have expert manicurists so I heard.

What next I wonder. I never thought the mobile phone would get anywhere! Consumerism is such a strange thing. Get something new and convince a critical mass of people they can't do without it! Watch the exponential growth in sales. I have some ideas, but I doubt they would catch on. One is cars driven on tanks of compressed air. This could pressurised using a wind-mill on the roof of you residence...
