Chord Anthem with 5 series?

just that I've got the opportunity to purchase a 2nd hand one at a fairly good price 2nd hand... (these are £300 new!)

I'm using the new Naim 5 series bits & have tried a Chord Solid which is the recommended cable to use with Naim stuff (well from the chord range anyway). The solid I felt gave an overly rich mid range, so that certain female vocals were a little coloured. There was a bit more detail, but it didn't match quite as well as the standard Naim (read Chord Chrystalis) cable in overall terms.

The standard Naim cable does fit very well with the Naim stuff (obviously!), but it is slighlty ruff around the edges compared to certain other cables I have tried in the past but with different equipment.

I suppose what I am looking for from an interconnect is transparancy & more detail, but without adding it's own 'character'

Anyone had any experience with the Anthem together with Naim stuff? -particularly the current line -due to its different character

Hi Alan, yes that does help -thanks!

What equipment are you using?

I agree re the Chrystalis being "very good, but a little rough & grainy" -it is indeed very good value + matches the naim gear very very well.

However what I want is a cable that will give me everything the chrystalis gives but without the slight roughness/grainyness + perhaps a little more detail. But I don't want a cable that has different characteristics, so maybe the Anthem isn't for me... any other interconnect suggestions Naimee's?

Trying out a Cobra at the moment that a friend has lent me -seems to be smoother than the std Naim cable, with more detail & a more consistent bass frequency performance than the std cable (std cable -some bass notes are very prominant & others faint) -so overall better, but perhaps slightly 'dull' treble -but only slightly... still I think good value for £48 new or there abouts. I've yet to try out a chorus or anthem, but suspect they may not be as good vfm as the cheaper cables, at new price anyway.
