Led Zep Mothership

Posted by: bigfella on 28 November 2007

Being a big Led Zep fan I'm obviously tempted to get the new Mothership collection of remastered classics (on vinyl probably). But I own the original triple Led Zep Remasters LP from the early 90's.
My question - have the Mothership tracks been remastered again or are they the same as the 'original' Page remasters from years back?

Regards

Are they any better than the previous remasters? I thought they were already pretty good.

Sounds like a must have after all then!
Has anybody compared the two albums (albeit on CD) so far? Is there an obvious difference?

The biggest difference I have noticed so far was the dvd which accompanied the two cd's!

I thought I'd read that they hadn't been remastered again, just repackaged to add to the hype about the three-quarter reunion (which, anyone who ever saw the full complement and when Robert Plant could still reach those high screams, will, no doubt, avoid).

But the remastered version of "The Song Remains the Same" is a MUST BUY album. This was always a favourite live album for me and, in fact, my most played Led Zeppelin album. The packaging of the remastered CD looks great (kind of like a mini LP) but is functionally lousy - just try getting the discs out without touching the playing surface. But the music: WOW! So much better than HTWWW, especially the 27 minute version of Dazed and Confused (you know, the bit from the end of the violin bow solo to the end of the track - totally sublime electric guitar playing from Mr Page). I hope someone will start a new thread on this remastered album.

But what happened to "In between last time we came and this time..."? OK, thanks for the extra tracks, but this omission is in the same category as the deletion of the cough on the early CD releases of Physical Graffiti which Pagey himself lambasted. I'm surprised he let this one through.

But this is still some of the finest rock music ever; played as rock music was meant to be heard - live. And it sounds SO GOOD in its remastered form, so much better than ever before.

The NBL's love it!

yep
its about £50 - £58 depending where you shop, the album is being made in limited numbers so you would be advised to act sooner rather than later.
this i believe will be issued on the new quiex 200g format which is superb, i have all the albums on this format except The Song Remains The Same oddly enough.
i have the original led zep 1 and comparing this to the new one, the new is clearly better.
