just thought I'd share my delight with my new setup. Have just moved from cd3.5/72/140 to cd3.5/Hi/102/Napsc/Hi/180 and the difference is amazing smile
A big thanks to all who have helped in answering my questions, either directly or in response to other posts.
Happy listening big grin , and I'm now off to ruin the neighbours weekend wink

Your now at the point I started at smile

It just gets better and better.

Sit back and enjoy, and dont be tempted to change stuff until you know this setup as well as your first.

As i've now moved on to CDX/52/Super/Naxo/Hi/2x180/sbl's

And thats rockin smile

So what's the difference like? Your current amplication is identical to mine, and my first notions were of an clear enveloping warmth. So what are your sensations about the move from 72 / 140 to what you have now?

Steve Hall, sell your CDX to Shinpad, and put the proceeds towards a CDS2. Both of you will then really gasp with joy!

Regards,

Steve.

It's just a pleasure to hear music as it was intended to be heard.

Will do, I'm looking at speakers, a cdx and stands as the next areas of improvement, although I'm not going to start off the great stand debate wink So, how does the 2x180's compare to a 250?

Well, I find it hard to put into words, especially in the detail some people on here are capable of, but the bass is much tighter and controlled, and it seems less of an effort at high volumes. Also I find that I don't have to crank up the volume to hear the detail, it's all there at low levels. Very impressive.

Sounds like a good idea! I don't think it's a mullet until I'm happy to leave the system as is - well that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it big grin

If I do move to a CDX can I power it with a Hi-Cap, or do I need to use the XPS?? Is the XPS for the CDX the same as the one used for the CDS2??

Graham,
The XPS is the same for CDS2 and CDX. I believe that your only options for external power are XPS or a CDP the power supply from a CDS (you need a special cable for this though).
