Joe Henderson

Sadly Joe Henderson has passed way. Henderson was one of my favourite musicians with a beautiful sound on tenor saxophone. He had a whole series of great sixties BlueNote Lps Page One,Our Thing, In n Out, Inner Urge, Mode for Joe and played as a sideman on many, many others . My personal favourite is State of the Tenor a great double LP set live at the Village Vanguard recording from the mid 80s. RIP

john c: yeah, great tenorist. i love "state of the tenor too" -- one of the first few cd's i bought when i got my cd2 5 years ago.

of late, been playing "straight no chaser" (quite a few interpretations around - monk has one too) and "near yet so far - tribute to miles"

enjoy

...whatever. That tribute to Miles album is one of my favourites, as is Page One. Sorry to hear about Joe.
