Hi there I have question Iam thinking of buying the 72, why not 102, simple the cash limit at the moment.
Back to my question which one of the 72 is the latest, there are two version one with two pair of BNC, and one with just one pair, so can anyone tell me which one is latest version.

System at the moment
Linn Lp12+Lingo+Ekos+K18 naCD3 nac32-5, nat101+snaps Hi-Cap nap135 Linn Isobarik.

Mine is '94 with two pairs of BNC, so I think the single pair is the later version.

Steve.

I am not quite sure but I think it's possible to upgrade your 32.5 with 72-boards to 72-status. I also would think about upgrading your K18 and CD3...

Don't feel bad about not being able to afford the 102 right now.

I have a 102, and I wish I still had my 72 (and more $$$$ for records and such).

I do like the remote though. I just don't dig the 102 as much as the 72.

Send the serial number to Naim's service department and they will tell you the age and if it has been serviced by them.

Confirmed: 72 with two pairs BNC's is the early, one pair BNC's is later.

Sometimes it can be cheaper to upgrade to 72 than add 72 boards to a 32.5 and service - depends on prices and availability.

Hi Mats,

I have a 32.5 with 72 boards (thanks Rico), & used to own a 72. Personally I can hear the difference but I find it subtle. A friend tried my 32.5, liked it, but ended up getting a 72 that he finds significantly better, so mileage can vary.

With your system I would have thought that changing cartridge to a Dynavector 10x4 might give a bigger improvement, or hang on in there till you can afford a 102.

BTW I recently spent a week working in Sweden & your country is fabulous, such fresh air, space, big skies.... back again in August, can't wait!

I believe there have been significant revisions to the 72 design well after the single BNC came in.

ISTR the latest 72's were an integrated board, rather than lots of plug ins. Anyone else come across this?

cheers, Martin
