A definite for the 'Classic Albums' thread.
I've only got an old vinyl copy...has this escaped a 'Desastered' reissue?

Fantastic guitar album. I am inspired to dig my copy out and listen.

Stevie,
It was the soundtrack to my second year when I was at the College of Knowledge in 1981/82. A very good mate had it. Great stuff. Enjoy yours.
Best, Chris

I also bought it the week it was released ....A bona-fide classic album and a genuine contender for the accolade of "best rock album ever released".
I saw Television (supported by Blondie!) in Newcastle in 1977 and they were a rather taciturn bunch - forever tuning up with not a word to the crowd ....but the music .......The 12" of "Little Johnny Jewel" is also wonderous.
Ok they (or Tom Verlaine) never quite reached such dizzy heights again but I guess we knew that even back in 77'

Cd has been remastered-very good re-issue.
Track Marquee Moon is longer-about 1 min more-the original length was shortened for vinyl, bonus tracks include the single Little Johnny Jewel Pts 1&2, alternates of See No Evil, Friction and Marquee Moon and an Untitled Instrumental.
There is also a remastered expanded edition of second album Adventure that is also worth getting

4 Men with Beards have re-issued vinyl of both Marquee Moon and Adventure
I have always been impressed by their pressings e.g. Aretha Franklin - so may be worth getting if you want a good quality vinyl

MM is one of THE albums of that era, IMHO. It connects avant garde poetry with New Wave music. His guitar sound is ground breaking.

Me too for 4MWB cutting - I like it. By the way, I saw them at Meltdown 3 years ago (? - the one that Patti Smith curated) and really enjoyed it but... the 10 mins of tuning between each track seemed to me not quite in the spirit of it. Am I unfair?

Most of the so called New Wave stuff I didn't take to but this is a VERY good album.

Steve,
If you like that try any Patti Smith Group album, especially Radio Ethiopia & of course her first solo album Horses, which has Tom Verlaine from Television playing on it.
