I was wondering why Naim is the only company to sell Flatcaps and Hi caps for source and pre amps. Why the other companies don´t have this service or path upgrade?for a couple of Euros it can improve the system, really

Nuno

In a previous thread you could'nt hear any difference with a flatcap on your CD5, then after a friend heard it their was a slight difference now your singing it's praises. Confused Amazing. I wish it was only a few euros Smile

Some other companies do offer PSUs as upgrades, The old Exposure and Cyrus come to mind. The main difference is in its implementation. I believe only Naim carry signal and DC on the same cable. If I'm wrong I'm sure somebody will enlighten us.

Nuno, if I were you I should remove that problem from your left ear. The music will sound much better this way Wink

On the other hand don't you think its great that Naim embrace the importance of good clean power supplies and that they've given us a choice.......flatcap,flatcap2,hicap,two hicaps, supercap!

I always explain to people who ask, is that it's like a car. You can add horsepower, or remove excess weight. Now removing excess weight is gonna actually do more initially than more horses cause it's all about power-to-weight!

I think that Naim do it the same way but the 'excess weight' in the hifi is noise. By isolating noise and cleaning it up you get more music info, cause the grunge that was shading the fidelity has been removed. You'll notice that Naim say almost nothing at all about extracting more resolution from, say, CD for instance. They don't really use 'high resolution' DACs when compared to other companies. Rather, I feel they take what goodies are there and shunt the noise and spurious bits of garbage out of the bandwidth.
It's the same with the Fraim, the suspended PC boards, the leaf springs and separate boxes on the speakers etc etc.

Genius.

As for them other companies, well, we don't dirty our hands with them, do we? Wink

Hoping that you have taken my advise & removed the problem from your left ear.

WinkHighly recommended Wink

Are we talkin excessive wax, or something more difficult to remove ..set concrete perhaps?

I must stress that removal of the problem in left ear is especially important before you make a decision on which power supply you use.
