Post pictures of otherwise great hifi equipment that you simply could never own due to their overwhelmingly obnoxious aesthetic.....(IYHO)

Kleinhorns are a bit over the top, though I've heard they sound great. One of Nelson Pass' ideas...

I used to like the simplicity and clean lines on Exposure amps when I had a XX, but their latest range just looks naff...

Kleinhorns, made by an air-conditioning trunking manufacturer?

Classic yes - pretty no.

Actually, they are one of the more extreme DIY speaker projects out there in tube land. The single full-range driver is usually either a Fostex or Lowthar driver. Julie London has never sounded better.
Goto passdiy dot com for a couple very entertaining writeups (with plans) on these monsters. The El Pipe-O design also works well with these for even greater low frequency response.
Very cool stuff.

Good calls on the B&W and Wilson entries, so far I'd say Dr. Exotica is the winner. Here are my entries:
Looks ok until you realize this is the consumer look
Addams Family Hi-Fi
Are you kidding me?!

I actually think the 47 Labs stuff is very cool looking, but it needs to be elevated off the ground and properly "arranged" -- sort of like Bonsai. It very Wabi Sabi.
Never heard it though, is it good?

Certainly, out of norm from the most Japanese gear I have heard and grew up with.

SC,
this is no hifi ! This is an UFO. Alternatively a time machine. A waffle iron. My daughters new Nintendo...

I agree - very cool looking. Actually, earlier in this thread i went to the 47 Labs site to try to find a picture similar to this. While I was there, I found the photo of Kuma's stuff.
How can you not like equipment with names like Power Humpty...
Actually, there is a thriving little DIY community out there that builds GainCard clones (aka the GainClone - you can grep for it) - I built one and they do sound pretty darn good. Amazing for a single afternoon of soldering.

Maybe my intense dislike of Meridian (aside from the duller than dull reproduction), was my exposure to the faux marble tops.
The vertical buttons just looked trashy.
I just don't like the look.
It reminds me of a picture of the Cray Supercomputer I once saw.
The speakers are just naff-looking.
