Richard Gray Power Company

Has anyone any experience of using these products? I was talking to a dealer today who told me about them. I did a quick search on the forum and couldn't find much apart from a negative reveiw by Jonathan Scull in Stereophile (could be a positive indication in and of itself!) this year which I must check out.
Meanwhile, the description of these units sounds highly compatible with Naim - passive inductive system with very low impedance etc.
The web site makes for interesting reading. I'm probably going to try one (after fitting my Aro and taking delivery of a Fraim). I'd be interested if it stopped the mechanical buzz of Naim's transformers too.
I realize this may all apply more in the US than elsewhere, both in the design of the products themselves and the way the power is delivered. The website is:

It doesn't kill transformer buzz, but kills the music.
I've tried it here in Canada, so same AC than you.

Hi JeremyB:
Before buying a PS Audio PP600 AC regenerator I tried the Richard Gray 'Power Station'. It severely reduced system dynamics, reduced the system's resolving power in the bass and had a curious slowing effect on PRaT.
You know those dreams where you're running in slow motion and can't seem to get anywhere? That's what the RG did to the music.
Best Regards,
Mark Dunné

Oh - so when the blurb on the websit sounded like a dream come true it really was (a dream come true).
On the other hand if anyone knows of a product that really does bring the power co's transformer next to my house...until then I'll just let the xCaps do it.

My dealer carries 'em. I never gave them a second thought, but have noticed that they've been relegated to the home theater set ups.

A friend of mine (who is incidentally an acquaintance of Richard Gray) tried out the power conditioner and didn't come away a fan either. Best to stay away, IMO, although I am told he also makes interconnects, which apparently he's much better at.

I used a RGPC400 with my series5 system (cd5,nac112, nap150, fc2, thiel cs1.5). I thought that the RG with a Straight Wire Blue Thunder cable helped the total dynamics and overall performance of the system. Maybe, at a small expence of speed and attack. However the RGPC400 sucked quite a bit of life and music out of my new system (cdx2, nac202, psc2, hicap,nap200,Thiel 1.5). I took the RG out my audio system, and put on the video system, which is on a seperate AC circuit. This made both the Naim system, and the Arcam AV system, both perform a lot better. The RGPC stuff is good for less expensive, and less robust power supplies. However, the bigger Naim stuff have a lot more expensive, robust, very good power supplies.

Is there any power condition ber PS Audio or anything else besides a separate and dedicated outlet to improve the sound of a Naim Stereo System?

You know, I asked a similar question about surge suppressors and got a resounding "NO."
However, the PS audio ultimate outlet seems to do alright for me, however I still prefer the sound with power direct from the wall.

Hi JeremyB,
Off the subject, but I loved your observation about Johnathan Scull .... is he the guy that used to write in the UK Hi Fi press a few years ago and drivel on about "my wife Kathleen this" and "my wife Kathleen that" ??? or was that Johnathan Kettle??

No, that was indeed Jonathan Scull. The guy, if you ask me, is a stark raving mad lunatic audiophile.
He once wrote the phrase (speaking of whatever amp he thought was the best in the world that month) "It was as if there were twinkling molecules of sound all around me."
Keep on twinkling my man, keep on twinkling.
