why don't people put their gear in their public profiles?

up to now there appear to be just three reasons: 1. a belief that to do so is irrelevant; 2. forgetting and, 3. not knowing how or where.

Oh but surely there must be more than just three!!
Let's see - humility; embarrassment (too little, too much, etc); possible trol (but that could just be me gettin out of bed the wrong side); a sense of mystery - keep em guessing!
And we're only on page 2.....

I do not believe this, because how many system can these prolific poster remember? ( Of other prolific posters)

The software allows plenty of options but Naim purposely don't allow some of them and prefer to keep things as streamlined and simple as possible. Personally, I think the forum looks much better this way and marks it out from the others where avatars and signatures distract from the thread.
Alco, give it a go now...
Oh, and this one is probably best in the Padded Cell now...

Alonso you now hinder people giving you a relevant answer to a problem that is location related
eg
mains voltage
voltage quality
local mains wiring rules
use of air conditioning or central heating
building style of dwelling
dealer support available
relative cost of the equipment
and so on

That's the way I like it. This is by far and away the best forum that I have ever seen. Nice, simple, clear, no signatures, no silly pictures or distracting text etc...,

It is even better if it has RSS. I regularly uses NetNewsWire to keep track of what's going on the websites that support it.

I used to list my kit but thought it came across as willy waving.
