Of course, over here it's hard to hear the old Garrard transcription tables.
Personally, I subscribe to a 'good enough' philosophy. Once the equipment reaches a certain level (like a 42.5/62/92 + 140 and maybe a CD5 and maybe a Rega P3 - though I'm happy with my LP12/ARO), I'd rather listen to music than worry if there's a better deck out there.
My first good table was a Thorens 165 which cost me $100. It turned out to be a very good sample; it bettered everything between it an an LP12. All my comparison time was WASTED.
I'm glad you like the 301. I'm glad people like the Roksan, SME, Yorke, Rega, etc. I'm glad I like my table.
Regards.

Hi Chaps,
A very intresting thread here!, I feel that a good many members will be voting for the Venerable crock, due to the unfounded Legend that has grown around it, and not down it's very limited capabilities and poor sound reproduction (even of certain stands)so please think before voting use your common sense, vote on the sound quality not the 'Hype' that surrounds it
Kind Regards David

The question was simply:
Whether it's a pile of 'whatever' or the best TT ever made is irrelavent to the question surely.
