So many new members suddenly!!

Posted by: Rasher on 06 February 2004

Anyone else noticed? or is it just me never previously noticing that newbies stick their heads in for a while and think....Nah...load of tossers! and go away again.
Has there been a recruitment drive by Richard?
I've also noticed that the regulars are dropping off. Where has Tom been for instance?
I love to see new members though. Keeps me from my work Wink

An amateur I may be but I do, on occasion, offend.

I even managed to get away with telling someone to F*ck off, and went down hill from there.

Justifiably, I felt at the time.

Who's gonna be the next to be banned?
Posted on: 13 February 2004 by Steve Toy
Nobody. That's why the forum is growing so fast.

Eventually a new heavy hitter will come along who is not backward at coming forward with his opinions and then we'll see...

Regards,

Steve.

The next big hitter to air views and offend is probably Chris Thomas, who we are supposed to think is not here Wink Just wait.

People tend to get banned for being deliberately offensive to other members.

Anyone who does that (with the possible exception of retaliation in kind) deserves to be banned.

Fritz does not fall into this category.

Steve.

You've got to try this!

This is creepy!

scroll down>>>>>>>>>

Think of a letter between A and W.

Repeat it out loud as you scroll down.

Keep going . . . Don't stop . . ..

Think of an animal that begins with that letter.

Repeat it out loud as you scroll down.

Think of either a man's/woman's name that begins with the last letter in the animals name

Almost there........

Now count out the letters in that name on the fingers of the hand you are not using to scroll down.

Take the hand you counted with and hold it out in front of you at face level

Look at your palm very closely and notice the lines in your hand

Do the lines take the form of the first letter in the persons name?

Of course they don't.......

Now smack yourself in the head, get a life, and quit playing stupid games! innit: Roll Eyes

Oh and thanks a lot for wasting another couple of minutes of my life.

Why do some people on here feel so threatened by Fritz?

1) He speaks a certain truth

2) He ignores certain social conventions

3) He is just different

4) Some people are just wankers for the sake of it

mmmm Comfort zones....

Is there a criteria for what people talk about on here? - as I see it it's an 'open' forum to talk about whatever - hi fi and music are on separate forums.

If people don't like what Fritz writes - why read it? - something to get angry about I guess. I occasionally get 'tweaked' by the apparent (perceived) affluent pretentiousness of some posts - I even get a perverse 'pleasure'(anger) reading some of them, even though it goes against my goals in life...

Anyway I digress, as rasher said it's probably a strange place to post this stuff.

Ho hum.....

I'm not threatend by Fritz, I just find his incessent ramblings tedious. There is nothing profound about his stream of consiousness. It's the verbal (textual?) equivalent of diarrhoea. Also known as logorrheaa it's a chronic inability to say something in less than a page when one sentence would suffice.

As for not reading it, 99% of the time I don't. But it is difficult to follow the discussion if someone else refers to the contents of a Fritz post.

As for Mr. Toy, his eloquent and articulate polemic against anyone who dares to differ from his taxi-cab centric view of the world is unassailable.
Posted on: 16 February 2004 by Steve Toy
The taxi-cab centric view of the world is formulated by meeting on a daily basis people from all walks of life and with differing standards and moral codes.

It works both ways:

On the one hand I tolerate nearly everyone, respect most, secretly despise a few, and despise a few more without any secret. Those that fall into the last two categories do so not because they are irritating but because they tend to take more from life than they are prepared to give in return.

On the other hand, nearly everyone tolerates me, most respect me, some secretly despise me, and a few do so without any secret. Those who fall into the last category usually fall into one of my last two categories above.

C'est la vie!

Apart from that, what does source my of income have to do with anything? Many of my viewpoints were formulated before I had any intentions of driving a cab. He does x for a living therefore his mindset is y is well-worn, glib and fatuous reasoning

Steve.

My old buddy Scarborough Lez said to me last nite daan der boozer that ee finks Rupert Murdoch should be the new BBC Tsar, and let's face it with his boy's experience too, ee's got a point, as Our Lez, innit?

Fair enough Steve, except that I wasn't commenting on how you earn your living. I was pointing out that all of us have our perceptions governed by our experience and situation and therefore have to accept that people interpret the world differently. I know you will agree with that, but how do you square that with calling people you don't know "wankers"?

I don't always agree with your posts, but you may remember I defended you against the silly horse and the nasty you know who. Take a look at the Fritz post above. What did it contribute? Helpful? Witty? Funny? Shared a viewpoint/insight with us?

No, just pointless tiresome drivel from where I and others are standing. Your mileage, of course, may vary.

Ok, shake hands?
(I was going to say kiss and make up, but that might have stirred up the closet homophobes)

The post was possibly out of place, but I find it scary to imagine Murdoch replacing those lefty right-on PC prats. I'll happily stick with the latter spending my licence fee.

Ironyiswastedonsomefolksinnit. Big Grin

As for my calling unknown people wankers, there was a condition attached to anyone falling into that category...

Cab driving can improve your ability to judge character - and give you a different set of criteria for making such judgements.

As far as I'm concerned we haven't fallen out.

Steve.
