Calling US Bay Area Naimees

Posted by: Geoff P on 20 January 2004

Anybody "local" to the BAY area like to recommend good HiFi stores within reasonable driving distance of SF & San Jose.
I am visiting on business for 5 weeks and will need a HiFi "fix" or two. Not just NAIM but Vinyl playback and speakers

If you wish you can e-mail input to:

Hello,
I recently purchased a Nait5/Stageline/CD5i from audiovision in San Franciso. They have Naim stuff as well as other brands. They carry Rega, Clearaudio, Wilson Benesch Turntables. If you are looking for heavy high end stuff I would try Music Lovers Sudio in Berkeley. No Naim, but they carry high end turntable manufacturers.

Peter Litwack from Music by Design (see www.naimusa.com and click on dealers) is by far the best audio dealer I have ever worked with. While it is true he does not have a typical brick-and-mortar shop, he is incredible knowledgeable about Naim, and music in general--much more so than the "other guys" in the bay area, which is not surprising since they deal with dozens of brands, whereas Peter focuses much of his business on Naim. Also, unlike many dealers, he is not pushy, condescending, or arrogant about audio equipment. You really get a sense that he loves music and its reproduction. He is also quite an interesting guy with experience in the music biz. It is well worth the drive up to Marin to have a conversation and demonstration of Naim gear with Peter. I would never want to buy gear from anyone else.
