Which came first, Animal or Vegetable ?

Simple question. With respect to the Earth.

Yes, animal or vegetable. The first organisms were probably classifiable as either.

er... vegetable? A guess from an artist not a scientist.

I would also guess the very first organisms would be classified as neither, but were bacteria?

Surely the answer is -mineral?

After that, vegetable. Phytoplankton helped created atmospheric oxygen. That 'allowed' further development.
