I've just started a thread to try to establish just how many of us would order a Naim mug (or two).

quote:The mug as modelled by munch was available about five years ago if I remember correctly. I remember being left a box of them after a Naim open day. I mentioned this fact on the Forum and within a week I'd posted them all out all over the place.
God, was that five years ago!!!
An egg cup! 151 - hmmm. I think its all or nothing - only the full monty mug would satisfy most on this forum, me included.
Cheers

Crikey, has it really been 5 years??!!
I remember the genesis of this one. I was on a visit to a dealer in Denmark and while setting up the equipment for a customer music evening I noticed that the guys who worked in the shop all fought over which mug they would use during their coffee break. They explained that there was a heirarchy - the more respected the brand, the more desirable the mug. I asked them which was the top mug and they replied that it used to be the Naim mug (maybe they were just being kind), but that it was quite old and had eventually got broken while being washed up.
That sealed it for me. When I got back to HQ I relayed this story to Paul and soon the new Naim mug was born...
There should definitely be another one!

And there was I thinking all this time it was a private factory joke...
I do remember asking how much you had to spend to get one. I found out

Richard
Where is your ambition.
Get a Naim teapot organised. Teapots are what collectors go gaga about. Also it would be much nicer for a dealer to pour tea from a teapot instead of bringing in a bloody mug. You could also have a nice little matching milk jug to accompany it.
I have a Fluck and Law (Spitting Image) Maggie Thatcher teapot and a Ronald Reagan Coffee pot and I could name my own price if I wanted to sell them.
Teapots are more appropriate to Naim than a mug.

Mick

Mick, you're forgetting that Naim's export business was my concern. And that means... coffee (or at least anything other than a decent cup of tea) .
I love tea. And you're absolutely right that a teapot is something quite special. Unfortunately it seems that the art of making a pot of tea is relatively unknown abroad. I'm not entirely sure why this should be. A Lipton tea bag dunked in luke-warm water just doesn't cut it. Perhaps it's the same reason coffee isn't quite the same outside italy...

In France they even use hot milk, tea(thé), that's the french for you.
I guess when you have had control of most of the world, their re-action to chucking us out was to throw out our tea ceremonies too.
