It doesnt merit an answer - its blatant blasphemy to ruin a good Rolf Harris song

You haven't anything 'til you heard the Dread Zeppelin version.

Cheers

Keith.

Ahhh, Tortelvis has left the building. I do like misty mountain top, but my fave Dread Zep must be Nobody's fault but mon .

I also have a soft spot for Rolf Harris' cover of Stairway! ("altogether now"...)

I tell you what the Dolly Parton version beats the hell out of the original!!!

I must admit that, once someone had explained what the song was about, I found the Rolf Harris version touchingly ironic.

No, really...

It's on her brand new record. I just heard it on the radio and it is outragiously good. It really shows what a fantastic singer she is.

[notice lack of smileys. it really is good!]

Yes its on Sugar Hill, but its absoluetly everywhere. Going Cheap(ish) in Virgin, to 8.99 at cd-wow.com.

The rest of the album is very good as well, so well worth nine quid

There's also a brilliant, and long unavailable "cover" by a little band called Little Roger and the Goosebumps, where they took the central melodies to the song and overlaid the lyrics to the Gilligan's Island TV show's theme song, and called the song "Stairway to Gilligan's Island".

Zep's manager, Peter Grant, heard this song once, was inscensed, and immediately sued to have it removed from western civilization immediately.

Turns out that Zep's actual band members never heard the song. When it was presented to one of them (Page, I think) about five years ago, he roared with laughter and said that he would work to have the fallout from the suit reversed.

You can now get the song on the compilation CD "Laguna Tunes". It's a CD of songs produced by a man of that last name, and is the only song on the CD worth putting to disk. But the CD is worth it for those with a sense of humor.

Cheers

Keith.

I'll hopefully remember to bring a replacement copy of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Circle II as I really like this disc, as well as remembering the teabags.
