MF marketing strikes again:-

I am concerned wheter this will work properly, as it does not appear to contain some anonymous NOS valve.

If MF is so good, as all the glowing magazine reviews keep telling us they are, why is there so much of the stuff available on the used market? Buyer remorse perhaps?

A friend calls it 'Musical Fatality'
One of these days, I should listen to one how 'bad' it is.

Musical Fatality by far the best name for it. Let's just say I won't be in the queue to replace my lp12 aro etc..... It looks a real Frankensteins monster from a design perspective, mixing several styles and ideas from other decks.

A Hi-Fi shop I used to work in sold it. There we called it ' Musical Fud'. Dose'nt exactly paint a pretty picture. Here's hoping they sound a bit better these days.

Don't knock MF chaps.
I auditioned their A300 amp (150 watts p/c?) against 72/140 and it heralded my entry to Naimland. Fight lasted all of 10 seconds.
Rumour has it their dealer margins are good and their review kit is well prepared.

I prefered my recapped Nait 2 to a friend's NuVista 3D cd and NuVista integrated amp, resplendent with hosepipe power chords and expensive this, that and the other. Speakers are the same, coiincidentally.
That said, the X-Can v2 is a fine bit of kit (albeit with a flawed design - valves inside a well sealed aluminium tube leads to shortened component life) but like a lot of budget gear, it provides a good starting point for modification if you know what you're doing (or know someone who does, as in my case).
