Parcel carriers

Any recommendations for parcel carriers? I have used Parcel2go 3 times now; the first was a disaster as they didn't collect it for days until I ranted at them, the second time they arrived to collect within the hour, and now, the third time it will be a week tomorrow that they should have collected. They don't respond to emails and I've only just managed to locate a phone number for them. Absolutely appalling, and I shan't ever use them again. I'm annoyed with myself for giving them another chance.
Who are good at a reasonable cost?

Couriers are shite. We use Royal Mail Special Delivery and have no problems. Parcels delivered before 1 next day. They even suply you with the silver bags.
For flammables and larger parcels we use Business Post. supposed to be next day, but not always the case. Not as hot as Royal Mail.
If you are not in the UK ... I have not a clue.
All I can say is Special delivery is bang on. £4.25 up to 500g, £5.35 up to 1000g and £6.95 up to 2000g. That is all we use. Any heavier then we use Business Post.
Business Post prices depend upon how many you send out daily. If you blag them and say you will send more, they will reduce the price. I think we pay about £6.00 + vat up to 20 kilos. They also provide the bags
Once you get the rep there, tell them that the price they are offering is too high and suggest a price. Try to get an agreement at a lower price and say they can review it by volume in 6 months. when 6 months comes, if they do then contact you (not likely) if they suggest any thing higher you then say... No thanks, I can get the same price else where. They then will say you can keep the rate for another 6 months.

Rasher,
You don't say whether it's UK only your looking for. For UK we use DHL (nothing fantastic but reliable). For across Europe and anything large prices can vary considerably - I,ve recently sent a set of Briks to Italy:
Parcelforce refused to ship as the weight of eack speaker was over 30 kgs.
DHL wanted £350 for the speakers only excluding the stands.
UPS shipped the lot £247 (3 boxes, two at 40kgs,s and one at 12kg,s), phoned them 11am on a Friday, they were here at 4pm.
Hope this helps.

It was Brighton to Bristol. I got DHL to come in the end, but Parcel2go are DHL anyway, so I don't know why the operate differently.
Total crap anyway. Don't use Parcel2go; well....you won't because they won't turn up, but you know what I mean. Avoid. Thanks for the suggestions.
