Anybody have the inside track on these people? I have been waiting for a tuner that was collected on wednesday for "overnight" delivery.
The sender (Naim dealer) has chased them.
First off, it was definitely going to be here early Friday, then definitely by 5pm. Now we are being told before 12 today (Sat). I lack confidence given the previous assurances.
What is the drill if they are stalling and actually don't know where it is?

on behalf of all the people who have ever made a mistake
at their job, whatever it might have been and affected
another person, especially if they are waiting for a tuner
and it shows up on saturday instead of thursday. i apologize.
i work in the courier industry and we work hard for low wages
to ensure the proper delivery of the millions upon millions
of differently sized packages and letters and bags on time and in good condition.
i guess one of them fell through the cracks and was a day late (and a half).
we in the delivery business hope that you will forgive us
or next time go get it yourself.

Thanks - I don't work in the courier industry, but I've certainly made a mistake or two at my job - it happens and is not intentional.
At least with TNT or Royal Mail you can collect a package if you're not in when they deliver. I like the fact you can track packages on-line (mostly).
Recently, a company sent me something by Secure Mail and there was no way I could collect it (they said we do not allow members of the public on to our premises), they wouldn't leave it with a neighbour or anybody else answering the door at my house and would only promise delivery between 9.00 and 17.00 when I was at work. It is not the fault of the workforce, but bad management IMHO. So I'll avoid them in future.

It has sod all to do with "mistakes". What a stupid thing to say. Nobody is criticising an individual's error.
Any organisation that sells it's services (whatever they are) needs to manage and handle expectation. Especially when things start to go wrong.
In this case, failure to meet the (paid for) overnight service resulted in two further deadlines being promised. Both were then not met.
You may not have better things to do than hang around waiting to sign for items - but I certainly have. Oh, and in case you are in any doubt - the penalty for not being there to receive it, would almost certainly be a trip to collect the item from some depot miles away.
Is there a refund in such circumstances for failing to meet a contract? Is there Hell. Your sympathy would be better placed with the customer, assuming you actually give a shit whether your organisation succeeds.

Would have been good ROTF, had the system been up.

How do you know this was not down to individual error, and why are you so cross with av in bc? Is it transference because he works for a courier?

Well it's entirely possible that the original delivery failure, the subsequent unfulfilled promises and the non-availability of the on-line tracking were all down to one person - but I doubt it
I suppose I have a bit of a cheek expecting an explanation, much less an apology - I guess the apparent 'worse shit happens' attitude is what will drive them forward. You are correct, I had no reason to complain. I should have just quietly resoved never to use them. I expect they don't want negative feedback.
As for AV, I merely replied to his sarcasm. As he seems happy to dish it out, I'm sure he's big and ugly enough to take it in return.

Fair point and now I read AV's reply again it is a little sarcastic, however I have it on good authority that he is of average build and extremely attractive.quote:

I didn't say you shouldn't complain. Knock yourself out.

Hi Steve
I didn't even get that option with the dreadful Secure Mail - so a birthday present was late. Delays in business mail I can live with, though I don't like them, but to get a one-week late delivery on a birthday present because of the uselessness of Secure Mail was unforgivable. Their customer services was zero.
