What we know so far

Based on the recent shows and the latest communication from Naim, can someone summarize what we know regarding upcoming Naim equipment, from sources (especially dvd) to amplification?

To those who have posted equipment pictures from the shows (and those who might still), thanks!

We know that Naim will kick some ass in that price range, and force other companys to take a good look..."try saying Naim with out saying MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM".....cant wait to see John Dawson and the boys from Arcam start having facial twitches as Arcam put more P.R.C. crap on the table....as Naim eat up that Market.

Richard from Naim answered to my questions in July per e-mail:
"Currently licencing outlaws the fitment of SDI outputs on DVD players. As and when this position changes, we will have an upgrade/option to add this to our DVD players.

The VS1 is currently in parallel devlopment with the DVD players. There is still no definite plans for release as many of the scaling functions will be available as options on the DVD players!!"

I hope that naim will fit out the DVD-Player with an SDI/DVI video output from the beginning which can be enabled when this output formats are offically allowed. Denon A11 and Marantz 8400 have this feature.
I don´t want to send the dvd-player back to Naim sometime after buying to add it.
BTW the superiority of an digital video output is obvious.

Furthermore I need a function to match the timing of video with audio. I bought a scaler because i couldn´t wait for the VS1 to improve the picture of my videoprojector. The scaler needs some calculation time so that the picture is slightly afterwards the sound.
This is irritating especially by DVDs concerning concerts, musicals...
I hope that the Naim DVD-player has a time correction feature on bord because Naim missed it on the AV2.

I believe that the guys who supplied the plasma screen for the Naim DVD demo at the WHF show said that the picture quality was the best they'd ever seen on that screen.

Allen,

the new DVD player was on static demo at Heathrow, and in use at the What HiFi show.

Doug Graham (I think) told me that the new player does DVD-A, but not SACD.

cheers, Martin
